Designation: Dialysis Medical Officer Job Location: Multiple Locations

Department: Nephrology Grade/ Level: D1

Direct Reporting To: Head Clinical Operations/OM Direct Reporters: Paramedical & Nursing Staff

Job Purpose: You shall be responsible for ensuring that all clinical protocols is being followed & to ensure we achieve high

level of patient satisfaction, to focus on patient centricity, monitoring patients undergoing dialysis treatment and maintaining

the highest safety and cleanliness standards.

• Clinical Management of Patients

o Complete a brief admission examination on each patient when appropriate and

document clinical findings

o Attend ward rounds with consulting staff, as required, and be available to discuss

patient treatment plans

o Perform clinical procedures as requested by consultant Dialysis staff and nursing

staff, these may include phlebotomy and the giving of intravenous drugs to

patients

o Initiate and alter in-patient prescriptions at consultants request

o Write up to take home prescriptions for patients as required

o Visit patients as required at the request of the Dialysis/nursing staff

o Pre and Post counseling to the patient and document in clinical notes

o To be familiar with all relevant procedures/policies

o To be familiar with center and company clinical policies.

o To be aware of the centers clinical risk programme and report clinical incidents,

drug errors and near misses

o To participate in clinical audit and implementation of clinical governance

o To participate and assist with operations as required

o Access the patient clinically before dialysis, check all his/her reports and advice if

any missing

Job Responsibilities:

o Avoid to take sick patients or provide close supervision from starting if any patient

seems to be sick
• Operational

o To be completely familiar with emergency equipment

o To dispense drugs with senior Dialysis/nurse on duty in absence of pharmacist

o To record all treatments performed in patient notes

o To put a full report into HMIS System o To participate in pre-admission clinics

• Emergency

o To carry out Cardiac Arrest and other Emergency Procedures as per ACLS and BLS

protocol

o To initiate emergency treatments for patients, staff and visitors and complete

appropriate documentation

o To observe the patients will be completed the four (4) hours dialysis or not

• Relationships

o Administratively responsible to the Centre Manager

o Professionally responsible to the Nephrologist

o Liaises closely with Dialysis Technician/nursing staff and other relevant clinical or

administrative staff
