Embedded Systems Senior Director

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Director of Embedded Systems to lead our embedded software and hardware engineering teams. This critical leadership role will be responsible for defining the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for our embedded systems, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative products. The ideal candidate will possess a deep technical background in embedded development, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of successfully bringing complex embedded solutions/products to market.

• Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the long-term technical vision and strategy for embedded systems, aligning with overall product and business objectives.
• Team Management & Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of embedded software and hardware engineers. Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Architecture & Design: Drive the architectural design and technical direction for new and existing embedded platforms, ensuring robustness, scalability, performance, and security.
• Product Development Lifecycle: Oversee the entire embedded product development lifecycle, from concept and requirements definition through design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product management, hardware engineering, cloud/backend teams, QA, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and successful product delivery.
• Technical Excellence: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in embedded systems. Champion the adoption of new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance development efficiency and product quality.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks and challenges throughout the development process.
• Budget & Resource Management: Manage departmental budgets, resources, and project timelines effectively.
• Vendor & Partner Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with external vendors and technology partners as needed.

Qualification:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive experience in embedded systems development, with a strong focus on both software and hardware aspects.
• 6+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing and mentoring embedded engineering teams.
• Proven track record of successfully leading the development and launch of multiple complex embedded products and solutions.

• Deep expertise in firmware/embedded software development (C/C++, RTOS, Linux kernel, device drivers).
• Strong understanding of embedded hardware design principles, microcontrollers/microprocessors, and communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, USB, PCIe).
• Experience with embedded security principles and practices.
• Familiarity with various development tools, debugging techniques, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience with wireless communication technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular) is a plus.
• Experience with low-power design and optimization is a plus.
