As a Ruby on Rails Software Engineer, you'll be instrumental in turning high-level ideas and designs into fully accessible and functional features . You'll work within cross-functional teams , collaborating closely with product owners, designers, and platform engineers to influence and deliver ambitious milestones.

Our Tech Stack:

• Ruby 3.2.8 and Rails 7.2
• GraphQL for backend and frontend communication
• Public JSON Rest API and webhooks for customer data consumption
• AWS is our product's home
• React, Typescript, and SCSS for our frontend
• Key technologies like Sidekiq, Redis, ElasticSearch, and WebSocket contribute to our overall solution

Our Engineering Workflow:

• Agile development with bi-weekly deployments to production.
• Continuous collaboration with product owners to define reasonable deadlines.
• We use Jira, Slack, Zoom, and calendars for efficient communication and coordination across continents and time zones.
• Documentation is important , and we use Confluence to keep our knowledge evolving.
• GitLab is central to our code review process, with well-tuned linters keeping reviews focused on substance.
• Our dedicated QA team diligently identifies and resolves issues, bugs, and cross-browser glitches before merging pull requests and conducting bi-weekly smoke tests before releases.
• GitLab CI empowers us with continuous improvement through automated testing capabilities.

Our Strategic Sourcing team operates as a hybrid development team , comprising both Ruby developers and teams specializing in Workday's proprietary development language (XO) . To truly support the full Source-to-Pay development flow, especially within our Chennai team, a strong passion for learning new frameworks and development languages is a key requirement. This willingness to cross-skill in Workday's proprietary language will be crucial for seamless collaboration and support with other Workday development teams.

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 + years of software development experience.
• Minimum 4 + years of experience with Ruby on Rails.

Other Qualifications (Nice to Have):

• Proficiency with PostgreSQL (or equivalent SQL database) and optimizing queries.
• Proposes pragmatic solutions to painful problems.
• Finds opportunities to teach others.
• Experience working within large codebases and/or web applications.
• Loves to understand and discuss the value our work delivers to customers.
