We are looking for a
Database Expert
to be part of our Nestlé Nespresso Digital and Tech Team.

The Role:
As a Database Expert, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, performance, and security of our database systems, aligning with the overall enterprise architecture and product group strategy. You will provide the necessary leadership and expertise in database management, administration, and optimization to support various products within the organization. Your collaboration with DevOps and development teams will be crucial in delivering optimal database solutions that maximize business value.
In This Role, You Will:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of Oracle, Cassandra, and MSSQL database management systems, ensuring they meet the functional and performance requirements of the organization.
  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) to automate routine database tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting of databases to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain strong database architecture and data modeling practices, ensuring adherence to security principles and compliance with internal standards.
  • Leverage Oracle and Azure Cloud PaaS database technologies, including automation through APIs and CLIs, to optimize database operations and integrations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps and development, to ensure seamless integration and deployment of database solutions.
  • Provide guidance and support in the administration and performance optimization of MySQL and Cassandra NoSQL databases, including understanding data modeling and distributed database concepts.
  • Stay updated with advancements in database technologies and methodologies, including Agile practices and FinOps, to continuously improve database management processes.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of AWS and GCP database PaaS services to enhance our cloud database capabilities.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience with Oracle Databases and a thorough understanding of the Oracle database features in versions 19c and 23ia.
  • Knowledge of Database architecture and administration.
  • Experience with clustering technologies from different vendors and hands-on interaction with large Database management systems.
  • Knowledge of Backup & Recovery, RMAN, and of various restore & recovery scenarios.
  • Experience with Performance Tuning, Parallel query, and Query tuning.
  • Experience in Networking, Partitioning, Database Security and Enterprise Manager.
  • Knowledge of general UNIX/Linux concepts & Administration.

Extra Skills That Set You Apart:

  • CI/CD Pipeline Integration: Proficiency in integrating database changes into Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, ensuring seamless updates and deployments.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience with tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to automate the provisioning and management of database infrastructure.
