Manager - Machine Shop

Position: Machine Shop Manager

Experience: 8–10 years

Industry: Foundry / Machining /Heavy Engineering/Fabrication

Reports To - Foundry Head

Role Overview

Responsible for in-house machining operations and development of external machining suppliers. Key focus on process planning, tooling optimization, quality improvement, and timely delivery of machined castings.

Key Responsibilities

· Plan and supervise machining operations (CNC, VMC, turning, milling, drilling, boring, grinding).

· Develop process sheets, cycle times, and machining programs with production/design teams.

· Ensure tooling/fixture selection and cutting parameter optimization for cost and quality.

· Manage and develop external machining suppliers through evaluation, audits, and performance monitoring.

· Drive productivity improvements, reduce rework, and support new product development.

· Implement 5S, safety, lean practices, and preventive maintenance.

Skills & Competencies

· Strong knowledge of CNC/VMC machining processes.

· Ability to interpret engineering drawings

· Experience in tooling/fixture design, cutting tools, and machining parameters.

· Proven supplier management and development skills.

· (Preferred) Knowledge of CAD/CAM, lean tools, systems.

Qualifications

· B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing) or Diploma with strong experience.

· 8-10 years in a foundry/fabrication machine shop with supplier development exposure.

· Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹70, ₹100,000.00 per month
