Roles And Responsibilities

An individual in this role is responsible for design, development, deployment and support of products and platforms that leverage Java based technologies and enable large scale event processing in engineering products in GS. The individual will engage in both server side as well as front-end development as may be required to achieve the desired outcomes. Specific responsibilities include:

• Design component as well as integration architecture for large scale web applications
• Develop, test and support features for globally deployed web apps.
• Follow best practices throughout the project lifecycle
• Participate in team-wide design and code reviews.
• Keep abreast of emerging technical trends, so applicability to GS products can be determined.

Qualification

Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication. Overall, 7 – 12 years of experience with a minimum of 5 years in developing Java-based applications.

Essential Skills

1. Technical

2. Strong programming skills in Java and Python with proficiency in object-oriented design principles

3. Experience with Java frameworks such as DropWizard, Spring and Hibernate
4. Familiarity with web development frameworks (Angular or React)
5. Experience with Testing frameworks (JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber, Mockito)
6. Hands-on experience with building stream-processing systems using Hadoop, Spark and related technologies
7. Familiarity with distributed storage systems like Cassandra, MongoDB and JanusGraph.
8. Experience with various messaging systems, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
9. Experience with Caching solutions like Hazelcast, Redis or MemCache
10. Knowledge of build tools like Maven or Gradle
11. Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines especially using Git
12. Working knowledge of Unix/Linux experience

15. Strong communication skills with a track record of working and collaborating with global teams,

16. Must possess the ability to handle multiple on-going assignments and be able to work independently in addition to contributing as part of a highly collaborative and globally dispersed team,

18. Thorough knowledge and experience in all phases of SDLC

19. Additional skills (Advantage)

20. Working knowledge of enterprise database systems (Sybase or DB2),

21. Programming in Perl, Python and shell script.
22. Knowledge and experience in building conversational user interfaces enabled by AI
