The Plant Manager will be responsible for end-to-end plant operations, covering production, quality, maintenance, procurement, logistics, and manpower management. The role requires ensuring cost-effective production, adherence to product standards, continuous process improvements, and effective utilization of resources, while maintaining safety, compliance, and team efficiency.

Job Description

A. Production & Quality

• Achieve daily/periodic production targets with adherence to quality standards.
• Plan and execute production schedules, resource allocation, and manpower deployment.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections, ensuring compliance with QA/QC standards.
• Prepare indents for materials and ensure timely availability from purchase/stores.

B. Process Improvement & Maintenance

• Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed to avoid downtime.
• Analyze and reduce rejection, rework, and wastages through process optimization.
• Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis and corrective/preventive measures.
• Maintain system documents and work instructions in line with organizational standards.

C. People Management & Leadership

• Allocate jobs to supervisors and monitor workforce performance.
• Conduct team meetings, ensure coordination, and resolve operational bottlenecks.
• Support HR practices recruitment, appraisal, training need identification, counseling, and disciplinary processes.
• Promote safety culture, team bonding, and employee motivation.

D. Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure use of PPE, adherence to safety norms, and proper housekeeping.
• Safeguard company property, equipment, and inventory.
• Prepare MIS reports covering production, wastage, non-conformance, and customer satisfaction.
• Provide recommendations to management for decision-making.

Desired Competencies

Technical / Functional Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of company products, processes, raw materials, consumables, machinery, and equipment.
• Expertise in production systems, QA/QC practices, plant maintenance, procurement, stores, and logistics.
• Ability to carry out analytical reviews of production processes, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
• Knowledge of product standards and handling of non-conforming products.
• Hands-on experience in planning/managing raw materials, production schedules, manpower, tools, and tackles.
• Experience in inspections at different stages of production, including in-process and final inspection.
• Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
• Preparation and control of system documents, work instructions, and compliance checklists.
• Knowledge of machine operation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and upkeep.
• Strong focus on minimizing rejection, rework, wastage, and downtime.
• Proficiency in preparing and presenting MIS reports, production statistics, and customer satisfaction analysis.

Education & Experience

Educational Qualification:

• Graduate/Post-Graduate in Engineering (Mechanical / Chemical / Production preferred).
• Additional certifications in Production Management, Quality Systems, Six Sigma, TPM, Lean, or Safety will be an added advantage.

Industry Experience:

• Minimum 10–15 years of experience in manufacturing/production plants.
• At least 5 years in a leadership/managerial role managing plant operations.
• Experience in Fertilizer industry preferred.
