Position Overview

The Pharmacy Benefit Services+ Technology organization is seeking a Automation Engineer Advisor to join our team. This Band 3 Contributor role is a key part of the group, driving innovation and operational excellence across the enterprise.

In this role, you will lead the development of intelligent, automated systems that streamline the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) by enabling scalable, low-maintenance solutions and accelerating solution adoption. A primary deliverable includes a self-service onboarding kit that empowers users—regardless of technical expertise—to begin using the solution within minutes, with zero coding and no ongoing maintenance required.

You will operate within a high-performance, high-frequency enterprise technology environment, collaborating closely with IT leadership and cross-functional teams to design reusable, adaptable solutions. Your focus will be on reducing redundancy, promoting reusability, and upholding high standards of engineering excellence.

Your solutions will be designed for broad adoption across multiple stakeholder groups, including developers, end-to-end testers, business analysts, and operations teams. By enabling shared tooling and consistent automation frameworks, you will foster greater collaboration, reduce the creation of duplicate or siloed products, and improve the overall quality and consistency of enterprise systems.

Responsibilities  

•   Design and develop scalable, reusable, and configurable automation frameworks to support functional, regression, and integration testing across enterprise applications.

•   Implement automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cucumber, and BDD/TDD methodologies to ensure high test coverage and reliability.

•   Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using platforms like Jenkins, or GitHub Actions to enable continuous testing and rapid feedback loops.

•   Collaborate with Developers, Quality engineers, DevOps, and product teams to align automation strategies with business and technical requirements.

•   Drive the adoption of script-less automation frameworks and low-code/no-code tools to accelerate test development and reduce maintenance overhead.

•   Leverage Generative AI technologies to enhance automation capabilities through intelligent test case generation, synthetic data creation, and predictive defect analysis.

•   Assess and optimize test data management strategies, including synthetic data generation, data masking, and provisioning for secure and efficient test execution.

•   Monitor and analyze test execution results, system logs, and performance metrics using observability tools like Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk.

•   Research and evaluate emerging tools, frameworks, and best practices to continuously improve automation efficiency and effectiveness.

•   Document automation architecture, test plans, execution results, and technical decisions to ensure transparency and maintainability.

•   Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing across teams to build automation competency and consistency.

•   Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards in all automation practices and test data handling.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Demonstrated experience in a Functional Test Automation Engineering role with strong understanding of test strategy and execution

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Shell scripting

• Practical experience in building reusable automation frameworks

• Hands-on experience with Selenium, Playwright, BDD, TDD, Python, Cucumber, and OpenShift

• Proven ability to develop script-less automation frameworks that are scalable and configurable for enterprise-wide adoption

• Demonstrated expertise in cloud infrastructure and platforms, including AWS and OpenShift.

• Experience integrating Generative AI for intelligent test case generation, test data synthesis, and root cause analysis

• Strong understanding of test data management, including synthetic data generation, data masking, and provisioning strategies

• Solid knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and build tools (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible, Github Actions)

• Familiarity with DevOps, continuous integration, continuous testing, behavior-driven development (BDD), and specification by example

• Solid grasp of front-end, back-end, API, and database architectures, and their impact on system performance

• Experience conducting benchmarking and scalability assessments

• Proven ability to collaborate with development and cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to consult and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Recognized for technical leadership and subject matter expertise in automation strategy and implementation

Required Experience & Education: 

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline (Computer Science, IT, etc.).

• Minimum of 11 years of hands-on experience in software development, automation, or DevOps.

• Demonstrated success in designing and implementing scalable, reusable automation frameworks.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, OpenShift) and infrastructure automation.

• Strong background in CI/CD, containerization, and test data management.

• Recognized for technical leadership and driving automation adoption across Agile teams.

Desired Experience:  

• Leadership in enterprise-scale automation initiatives across the full SDLC.

• Experience with script-less automation frameworks adopted by cross-functional teams.

• Advanced use of Playwright for modern web testing, including cross-browser and parallel execution.

• Integration of Generative AI for intelligent test case creation and predictive analytics.

• Deep expertise in test data management and provisioning for complex environments.

• Proven ability to reduce duplication, improve quality, and drive enterprise reusability.

• Collaboration with architecture, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure scalable and compliant solutions.

• Ability to influence teams toward automation-first practices and continuous improvement.

Location & Hours of Work

• Full-time position, working 40 hours per week. Expected overlap with US hours as appropriate. Primarily based in the Innovation Hub in Hyderabad, India in a hybrid working model (3 days WFO and 2 days WAH)
