Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plans and organizes activities related to specified clinical services to ensure patient needs are met in accordance with professional standards of medical and nursing care and facility administrative procedures.
Coordinates activities with other facility departments, patient care units, ambulance services, medical staff, patients' relatives, law enforcement officers, the media, and other health facilities.
Develops, implements, and evaluates methods to ensure effective and efficient use of staff, facilities, equipment, and other resources while maintaining patient care standards.
Develops, implements, and coordinates quality management, utilization review, and discharge planning programs.
Consults with management, facility staff, anesthesia staff and medical staff on patient care or nursing problems and interpretation of facility policies to ensure patient needs are met.
Plans and organizes orientation and in-service training for staff members and participates in guidance and educational programs.
Observe procedures and make appropriate suggestions and recommendations for improving techniques, policies, and procedures.
Formulates budget based on appropriate workload indicators and anticipated revenues in conjunction with Administrator.
Monitors and controls department costs to maintain expenditures within allocations.
Recommends acquisition of capital equipment.
Engages in studies and investigations related to improving delivery of services.
Direct or conduct recruitment, hiring and training of clinical personnel.
Direct, supervise and evaluate work activities of clinical personnel
Establish work schedules and assignments for clinical staff, according to workload, space and equipment availability
Maintain awareness of advances in medicine, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, health insurance changes, and cost-effective options.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Provide direct supervision for general Clinical Administration for entire patient population from admission to discharge.
Responsible to implement protocols as referred by executive committee of Medical staff and present quality indicators and hospital performance data in the committee on every month.
Responsible for supervising all the multidisciplinary activities of the Hospital.
Consult the Medical Director of the Hospital and provide all the sought help by Department Directors and the Medical Director.
Work in close relation with Human Resource Development Department and non-clinical administration for recruitment and appraisal of manpower
Responsible to provide supervision in various areas. Those responsibilities include the following:
House Officers, Registrars & Fellows (the House Staff):
Develop, implement and monitor policies related to the house staff.
Recruitment and retention of the house staff.
Ensuring that MRD reports are filed properly by house staff.
Ensuring that training need identification and development of training accordingly for house staff
Nursing :
Develop, implement and monitor policies related to the nursing.
Ensuring that MRD reports are completed and filed properly by nursing.
Ensuring that nursing protocols are adhered to nursing guidelines and SOPs.
Develop policies and procedures for the department
Ensure discipline in the related staff
Ensuring to establish clinical processes audit and quality improvement program in nursing .
Managing Corporate Clients:
Assist in providing medical related information for corporate tie-ups for both new as well as for renewal.
Ensure that all the required documentation for the empanelment is done properly.
Act as a liaison between corporate and the organization.
Ensure that the corporate medical officer is informed about the clinical progress of the patient.
Ensure that all required documents for settlement of the patients bill are furnished to the corporate billing department.
Credit Patient Department (TPA & Corporate)
Coordination & supervision for completion of all health insurance related formalities such as AL & estimates etc.
Communication with health insurance companies whenever required.
Resolve insurance related clinical problems of patients and relatives.
Medical Transport:
Ensuring that safe and secure transportation of patient
Ensuring discipline among staff related to medical transport.
Ensuring to regulate the charges of the utilization of Ambulances.
Operations Room:.
Supervising the process and protocols of operation room.
Developing quality improvement programme for operation room
Develop various policies and procedures for the department
Medico legal:
To represent hospital in case of medico legal cases whenever required.
To guide & supervise medico legal formalities.
Hospital Infection Control & Waste Management
To work for infection control practices in close association with Hospital Infection Control Officer.
To supervise the activities of hospital infection control nurse.
Clinical Pharmacy & Dietetics:
Supervise day-to-day work in clinical pharmacy
Supervise the activities of dietician.
Pharmacy:
10.1 Supervise the pharmacy department
10.2 Ensure that inventory should adherent to hospital formulary.
10.3 Ensure optimum inventory management and control
10.4 Medicine use, dispense, prescription, storage and transportation as per legislative regulation
and adhere to hospital polices and protocols.
Medical Record Department:
11.1 Supervise the Medical Record Department
11.2 Analysing and rectifying the processes as per active and passive record audits
11.3 Ensuring safe and secure storage of medical record
11.4 Ensuring retrieval of records as per legislative regulation and hospital policy
11.5 Ensuring external storage of records with scanning
11.6 Ensuring registry like cancer registry has to be updated and recorded all cases come into the hospital
11.7Ensuring safe transfer of files inter department with proper retrieval policy for internal use.
11.8 Ensuring proper record shredding as per guideline and policy.
Clinical Engineering:
12.1 Supervising the clinical engineering department administratively
12.2 Ensuring that department is adhere to hospital policies and protocols.
12.3 Ensuring that proper preventive maintenance in-house or/and outsource has to be done and documented
12.4 Ensuring that all equipments has to be coded and labelled
12.5 Understanding the depreciation and utilization of equipment and helping in developing revenue assurance of the equipment utilization.
Government Programs:
Coordination of various government and WHO programs related to health e.g. compliance regarding information and reporting to communicable disease to WHO and any other govt. organization.
Academics and Research Studies.
To apply for DNB & other academic programmers & to prepare for the inspections.
To co-ordinate all activities of the students of DNB & other students & Residents.
Outpatient Department
Rehabilitation Centre & Physiotherapy
16.1 Supervise the rehabilitation department
16.2 Ensure that all needed equipment for patient rehabilitation has to be in the department.
- Clinical Psychology department
Others:
Home Healthcare Services- Indirectly through Nursing chief
CSSD -Indirectly through Infection Control Officer.
Medical Records Department
Participating in HRD activities for recruitment of clinical staff.
