About the role

Were looking for a handson DevOps engineer with deep experience in Azure, Terraform, and container platforms to help design, automate, and operate reliable cloud environments at scale. You will own CI/CD, infrastructure as code, production readiness (monitoring, logging, security), and partner closely with application teams to ship software quickly and safely.

What you'll do

CI/CD & Release Engineering

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions, including build, test, security scans, artifact management, and multistage deployments.
• Standardize reusable pipeline templates, environments, service connections, and approvals for prod/nonprod.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Model and provision cloud resources using Terraform (modules, workspaces, remote state, policy guardrails).
• Establish IaC best practices (code reviews, drift detection, pipelines for plan/apply, tagging/cost governance).

Azure Platform Engineering

• Build and operate core Azure services: VMs, AKS, App Services, Virtual Networks / Private Endpoints, Storage, Key Vault, Load Balancers / App Gateway, Firewall / NSGs, Azure Container Registry.
• Implement high availability, backup/restore, and cost optimization across subscriptions and environments.

Containers & Orchestration

• Containerize workloads with Docker; deploy and operate on Kubernetes (preferably AKS).
• Understanding of Helm charts/Operators, config/secret management, PodSecurity, HPA, ingress, and bluegreen/canary releases.

Scripting & Automation

• Automate ops workflows with PowerShell, Bash, and Python (e.g., health checks, runbooks, housekeeping, data migrations).

Version Control & Collaboration

• Use Git for trunkbased development, PR reviews, branching strategies, and GitOpsstyle workflows where applicable.

Observability & Reliability

• Instrument services and infra with Azure Monitor and Application Insights; define SLOs/SLIs, alerts, dashboards, and runbooks.
• Drive incident response, postmortems, and continuous reliability improvements.

Security & Compliance

• Apply securitybydefault: Azure RBAC, Managed Identities, Key Vault secrets/keys/certs, image and dependency scanning, Defender for Cloud recommendations, and Azure Policy.
• Support audits/compliance baselines (e.g., CIS/Azure Security Benchmark), least privilege, and change governance.

What you'll bring (Musthave)

• Handson expertise in building/maintaining CI/CD with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.
• Terraform proficiency (modules, state mgmt, pipelines, policy).
• Strong Azure fundamentals across compute, network, storage, and PaaS (AKS/App Services).
• Docker and Kubernetes administration (preferably AKS) in production.
• Proficiency in PowerShell and/or Bash; good working knowledge of Python for tooling/automation.
• Solid Git workflow knowledge (PRs, code reviews, branching strategies).
• Practical monitoring & logging with Azure Monitor / App Insights; alerting and incident response.
• Understanding of security & compliance fundamentals (identity, secrets, patching, vulnerability mgmt, policy).
• Solid understanding of linux and the linux ecosystem

Nice to have (Software Engineering)

• Programming in C#, Go, or Python (building internal tools, operators, or deployment services).
• Code review & testing practices (unit/integration tests in pipelines, TDD where pragmatic).
• Knowledge of design patterns, distributed systems, and cloudnative architecture.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams (sprint ceremonies, backlog hygiene, story sizing).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/IT/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Relevant certifications a plus: Microsoft AZ104 / AZ400, CKA/CKAD, Terraform Associate.

Success metrics (first 30/60/90 days)

• 30 days: Environment access, platform overview, oncall readiness; deliver small enhancements to an existing pipeline/module.
• 60 days: Own an application pipeline endtoend; introduce baseline dashboards/alerts; close top reliability tickets.
• 90 days: Ship a reusable Terraform module and pipeline template; lead one cost/security improvement with measurable impact.
