Role Summary

The Fabrication Supervisor will be responsible for supervising daily production activities on the shop floor, ensuring efficient fabrication operations, maintaining quality standards, and achieving production targets. The role requires strong technical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, bending, welding processes, and manpower management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Management

  • Plan, organize, and monitor fabrication activities as per production schedule.
  • Allocate resourcesmanpower, machines, tools—optimally for timely delivery.
  • Ensure daily production targets are met with minimal downtime.
  • Coordinate with planning, design, and QC departments for smooth workflow.

2. Fabrication Operations

  • Supervise processes such as laser cutting, bending, punching, welding, assembly, etc.
  • Review and interpret fabrication drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Ensure proper machine setup and usage of correct tools, fixtures, and consumables.

3. Quality Control

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Conduct in-process inspections and guide operators for quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with the QC team to resolve fabrication issues.

4. Team & Shop Floor Management

  • Supervise and guide operators, fabricators, welders, and helpers.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for skill enhancement.
  • Maintain shop floor discipline, 5S, and safety protocols.
  • Monitor overtime, shift planning, and attendance of the team.

5. Production Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain daily production reports, machine utilization, and material consumption.
  • Report delays, breakdowns, or any deviations from the plan.
  • Ensure proper documentation for traceability and audits.

6. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify areas for process improvement to enhance productivity and reduce rework.
  • Implement lean manufacturing techniques where applicable.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of welding processes (TIG/MIG/Spot) is a plus.
  • Good supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and shop floor standards.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, ERP knowledge preferred).

Qualification

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) (mandatory)

Experience

  • 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in sheet metal fabrication / production supervision.
