Roles and Responsibilities of a Calibration Engineer
1. Equipment Calibration
- Calibrate instruments such as pressure gauges, temperature sensors, Plug gauge, thread plug gauge, torque tools, and dimensional equipment
- Perform initial, periodic, and after-repair calibrations
- Ensure traceability to national/international standards (e.g., ISO, NIST)
2. Standards & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with standards such as:
- ISO/IEC 17025
- ISO 9001
- Ensure calibration procedures meet regulatory and customer requirements
3. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain calibration certificates and reports
- Maintain calibration schedules and asset registers
- Record out-of-tolerance conditions and corrective actions
4. Troubleshooting & Analysis
- Diagnose instrument failures or measurement inaccuracies
- Perform root cause analysis for out-of-calibration equipment
- Recommend repairs, replacements, or design improvements
5. Uncertainty & Measurement Analysis
- Calculate measurement uncertainty
- Validate calibration methods and procedures
- Perform measurement system analysis (MSA)
6. Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain calibration standards and reference instruments
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and environmental controls
- Coordinate external calibration services when required
7. Process Improvement
- Develop and improve calibration procedures and methods
- Automate calibration processes where possible
- Improve turnaround time and calibration efficiency
8. Audits & Quality Support
- Support internal and external audits
- Prepare documentation for customer or regulatory audits
- Train technicians and operators on calibration best practices
9. Safety & Risk Management
- Follow safety procedures when handling high-voltage, pressure, or temperature equipment
- Assess risks related to measurement errors and equipment failure
10. Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with quality, production, maintenance, and engineering teams
- Provide technical support related to measurement accuracy and instrumentation
Key Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of metrology and measurement principles
- Familiarity with calibration software and CMMS systems
- Understanding of standards (ISO 17025, ANSI, ASTM)
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹20, ₹30,000.00 per month
