Responsibilities:

• Database Management: Manage, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases hosted on Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service) and Oracle PL/SQL databases.
• Performance Tuning: Optimize SQL Server and Oracle PL/SQL performance, troubleshoot performance issues, and ensure efficient database operations.
• Security: Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and auditing, in accordance with best practices and compliance requirements.
• Backup and Recovery: Develop and execute database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Patch Management: Keep SQL Server, Oracle PL/SQL, and AWS RDS instances up to date with the latest patches and updates.
• Scaling and Capacity Planning: Scale database resources as needed to accommodate growth and changing workloads. Perform capacity planning to ensure resources are allocated appropriately.
• Monitoring and Alerting: Set up monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address database issues. Use AWS CloudWatch and other tools for monitoring.
• Automation: Implement automation scripts and workflows for routine database tasks and maintenance.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with application developers, system administrators, and other teams to ensure seamless integration of databases into applications and infrastructure.
• Development: Develop database objects like Packages, Stored Procedures, Database Links, Functions, Views / Materialized Views, Dynamic SQL, External tables, Exception handling, Triggers, Cursors, Ref Cursors, and other PLSQL objects.
• Query Optimization: Experience in query optimization, performance tuning (PL/SQL) using SQL Trace, Explain Plan, Indexing, and table partitioning.
• Data Handling: Handle Oracle XML / JSON / CLOB data and work with large volumes like millions of rows, writing complex queries and performing tuning- Agile Methodologies: Experience working in Agile methodologies.
• Client Interaction: Ability to work independently by interacting with clients from design to implementation.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• 3+ years' experience with Oracle and Postgres database development.
• SQL Server Expertise: In-depth knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including database administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• AWS RDS: Familiarity with Amazon RDS and its features, including automated backups, automated software patching, and scalability options.
• SQL and Scripting: Proficiency in SQL, PowerShell, or other scripting languages for automation and maintenance tasks.
• Database Security: Understanding of database security principles, including encryption, access controls, and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
• Monitoring Tools: Experience with database monitoring and alerting tools, such as AWS CloudWatch or third-party solutions.
• Backup and Recovery: Knowledge of database backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time recovery and high availability solutions.
• Capacity Planning: Ability to assess database resource requirements and plan for scaling as needed.
• Troubleshooting Skills: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving database issues.
• Documentation Skills: Ability to maintain clear and comprehensive documentation.
• Communication: Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Certifications: AWS and SQL Server certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator) are often preferred.
• Programming: Very good programming experience as an Oracle PL/SQL Developer. Python experience is an additional benefit.
• Linux Knowledge: Knowledge on Linux is an addon.

Required Experience & Education:

• 3+ Years of Experience
• Previous experience as Database Developer.
• Experience working within the healthcare industry is desirable.
• Familiarity with healthcare-specific IT systems and industry regulations, such as Electronic Health Record systems and HIPAA, is an added advantage.

Desired Experience:

• Exposure to Gen AI and Cloud systems like AWS.

Location & Hours of Work:

• Full-time position, working 40 hours per week. Expected overlap with US hours as appropriate. 
• Primarily based in the Innovation Hub in Hyderabad, India, with flexibility to work remotely as required.
