About The Opportunity
A specialist role in the Healthcare sector focused on Ophthalmology — Eye Care & Cataract Surgery. The practice delivers comprehensive anterior-segment services, high-quality cataract care and refractive solutions across modern outpatient clinics and dedicated operating theatres in India. We seek a skilled consultant-level phaco surgeon to join an experienced clinical team delivering patient-centred surgical outcomes.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform independent cataract surgeries using phacoemulsification and alternative techniques as required, ensuring high standards of safety and visual outcomes.
  • Conduct comprehensive outpatient consultations: pre-operative assessment, biometry, IOL selection, and informed consent discussions for routine and premium IOLs.
  • Manage intraoperative and postoperative complications, including posterior capsular rupture, and provide timely follow-up care and YAG capsulotomy where indicated.
  • Maintain accurate surgical logs, clinical documentation and participate in surgical audits to monitor outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with optometrists, nursing teams and OT staff to optimise patient pathways, surgical throughput and infection-control protocols.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, training of junior surgeons/trainees and patient education initiatives to uphold service quality.

Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have

  • MS / D.O.M.S. or equivalent ophthalmology qualification with completed phaco fellowship.
  • Valid registration with the National Medical Commission / State Medical Council.
  • Proven competence in independent phacoemulsification surgery with documented surgical log demonstrating safe outcomes.
  • Proficiency in pre-operative biometry and IOL power calculations (IOLMaster / Lenstar experience preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with YAG laser capsulotomy and management of anterior-segment complications.
  • Comfortable working on-site in high-volume cataract lists and participating in surgical audit and quality programs.

Preferred

  • Fellowship or additional training in cornea/anterior segment or refractive cataract surgery.
  • Experience with premium IOLs (toric, multifocal) and patient selection for refractive outcomes.
  • Exposure to femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) or advanced anterior segment imaging (OCT interpretation).
