Job Title: Senior Java Architect / SME – Banking Domain

Experience: 12+ years

Role:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Architect (SME level) with deep expertise in enterprise application architecture and proven experience in the Banking and Financial Services domain. The ideal candidate will define and drive the technology architecture, ensure solution scalability, and provide hands-on leadership across multiple transformation initiatives such as digital banking, core modernization, and cloud migration.

Key Responsibilities:

Architectural Leadership

• Design, develop, and govern end-to-end architecture for banking applications—covering digital channels, middleware, integrations, and core banking systems.
• Define scalable, secure, and resilient architectures using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
• Drive modernization of legacy systems to cloud-native architectures.
• Ensure architecture compliance with banking regulatory, security, and data privacy standards.

Solution Delivery

• Collaborate with business, product, and delivery teams to translate functional needs into robust technical solutions.
• Create architectural blueprints, technical design documents, and interface specifications for integrations with payment gateways, CRM, and core banking platforms.
• Review designs and code to ensure adherence to architecture principles, performance, and quality standards.

Technology Enablement

• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Java-based solutions in the banking ecosystem.
• Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for new technologies (e.g., event streaming, API platforms, AI-driven analytics).
• Introduce design patterns and frameworks suited to the BFSI environment (e.g., CQRS, Event Sourcing, Hexagonal Architecture).

Governance & Mentoring

• Establish best practices for solution design, DevOps, and cloud adoption.
• Mentor engineering teams to improve design and coding excellence.
• Participate in architecture review boards and technology strategy forums.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Expertise
• 12+ years of experience in software development, with at least 4–5 years as a Java Architect.
• Deep expertise in Java 11+, Spring Boot, Microservices, RESTful APIs, and API Gateway frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with Cloud Platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of banking integrations, payments, customer onboarding, KYC, and transaction processing systems.
• Experience with messaging frameworks (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and caching solutions (Redis, Hazelcast).
• Proficiency in RDBMS (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) databases.
• Knowledge of security standards – OAuth2, JWT, encryption, PCI-DSS, and data masking.
• Domain Expertise
• Strong understanding of banking workflows, including core banking systems, loan management, digital channels, and payment ecosystems (SWIFT, ACH, UPI, ISO
• Experience with integration to banking APIs, middleware, and enterprise service buses (ESB).
• Leadership & Communication
• Proven ability to guide cross-functional teams across distributed environments.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with business, product, and senior technology stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in complex banking landscapes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to Core Banking Transformation, Digital Lending, or Open Banking (PSD2, API frameworks).
• Certification in AWS Solutions Architect, TOGAF, or Cloud Native Architect.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, DevSecOps, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Prior experience working with Temenos, Finacle, FIS, or Oracle FLEXCUBE (advantageous).

Educational Qualification:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
