Responsibilities

  • Collect, process, and analyze biological specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue samples using aseptic techniques and proper laboratory procedures.
  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests including ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), PCR (polymerase chain reaction), flow cytometry, immunoassays, and RNA extraction to support diagnostic and research objectives.
  • Isolate DNA and RNA from specimens with meticulous attention to detail to ensure high-quality results for downstream applications.
  • Manage laboratory information systems (LIMS) for accurate data entry, specimen tracking, and result reporting.
  • Conduct blood sampling procedures such as venipuncture and phlebotomy while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
  • Maintain detailed records of all laboratory activities, test results, and quality control measures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Support laboratory management by organizing inventory, calibrating equipment like CT scanners, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols including aseptic technique.
  • Assist in clinical trials by preparing specimens, performing assays, and analyzing data to contribute to research advancements.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to interpret test results within the context of medical terminology and physiology knowledge.
  • Ensure specimen collection and processing meet hospital standards for accuracy and safety.
  • Participate in ongoing training on laboratory techniques, new assays, and updates in medical laboratory practices to stay current with industry advancements.

Requirements

  • Proven clinical laboratory experience with a strong foundation in laboratory techniques such as blood banking, blood sampling, DNA isolation, RNA extraction, ELISA, PCR, flow cytometry, immunoassays, and specimen processing.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to blood sampling procedures like venipuncture and phlebotomy.
  • Familiarity with laboratory management systems (LIMS) for data management and specimen tracking.
  • Experience working within hospital or clinical settings with an understanding of medical terminology and vital signs measurement.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform laboratory procedures accurately while following strict aseptic techniques to prevent contamination.
  • Strong data analysis skills for interpreting test results accurately within the context of clinical or research requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple assays simultaneously while maintaining meticulous records.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment under pressure while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Relevant certifications or licenses as required by local regulations for medical laboratory technicians or phlebotomists are preferred but not mandatory; ongoing professional development is encouraged.
