Network Infrastructure Operations Manager 

Responsible for monitoring and coordinating the management of the outsourced fiber and network operations for Palava. 

  1. Responsibilities 

 

  • Overseeing  the operations of the vendor NOC for management of the citywide fiber network
  • Coordinating with Service Providers, Design, Construction Management, Procurement, Facilities Management and Customer Care 
  • Conduct Operations Audits for Network Operations and produce gap-analysis reports and monitor progress to mitigation
  • Planning Cluster Boundary and FDH location as per Client requirement,  Planning Backhaul network in an optimized way,   Designing of fiber network from FDH to ONT as per planned network,  Designing of backhaul network, Area PoP to FDH as per planned network 
  • Supervise Fiber cable testing using OTDR to check for signal strength. Do sample traffic analysis to pinpoint choke points for vendor to resolve 
  •  Sample check that Routine maintenance on Fiber Optic Terminal Equipment is correctly completed
  •  Turn-up and testing of DS1, DS3, EtherNet and Sonet circuits. Signing off of testing before go live
  • Prepare and Compile Summary Documents and MIS Reports for Sr. Management

Study escalations of Calls and take steps with vendor to resolve

  1. What we are looking for :

 

  • Overall experience of 8-10 years  with at least 5 years' experience in the Telecoms / ISP / Fibre industry
  • Strong technical knowledge in Optical Transport (DWDM, SONET, Switching) systems, as well as their deployment  and management.
  • 4-5 years experience in Designing of Fiber Optic networks in the following discipline : Backbone Networks, Access Networks, FTTH Networks.  Exposure in designing of Transmission Networks preferred but not essential
  • Experience in building and managing and upgrading facilities such as node/aggregation room environmental, monitoring and the maintenance thereof.
  • Worked with and exposed to the following technologies: Fiber Rings Topologies; Metro Ethernet, DWDM, CPT, Cisco Optical Packet Networking
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of latest FTTH GPON Planning and design techniques
  • Experience in preparation of Design Bill of Materials (DBOM) , Design Bill of Quantities (DBOQ), Layout Preparation, AsBuilt Documentation etc 
  • Experienced in quality procedures to be followed in telecom network, Preparation of Manhole and Handhole design drawings,  Conduit and duct network designing , Preparation of Joint Schematics, Block Diagrams etc 
  • Experience in a fast paced, pressurised business environment, including the successful project management of multiple, diverse fibre projects.
  • Experience in managing a team of direct reports and multiple 3rd party suppliers and contractors.
  • Good experience in using AutoCAD, Microstation, Powerpoint, Visio, MS Project etc
  •  Good  communication skills both verbal and written

 

  1. Min Qualification Required

 

  • Degree/Diploma in the field of Engineering or Computer science. 
  • CCNP, ITIL and other related certifications will be an added advantage
