Role Overview

The Deputy General Manager / General Manager for Road Construction Projects will lead, plan, and manage all aspects of highway/road infrastructure projects from initiation to completion. The role involves overall responsibility for project execution, contract management, cost control, team leadership, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder coordination to ensure timely, quality, and cost-effective project delivery.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of road and highway construction projects (EPC/PMC/PPP).
  • Monitor daily/weekly progress and ensure adherence to approved project timelines and milestones.
  • Develop detailed project implementation plans, work breakdown structures, and resource plans.

B. Technical & Engineering Management

  • Review drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and design reports.
  • Coordinate with design consultants for resolution of engineering issues.
  • Ensure proper implementation of quality standards, material testing, and construction methodologies as per IRC/MoRTH guidelines.

C. Contract & Commercial Management

  • Manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Review and approve RA bills, variations, claims, and change orders.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and maintain accurate project documentation.

D. Cost Control & Budgeting

  • Prepare project budgets and monitor financial performance against targets.
  • Implement cost-control measures to avoid overruns.
  • Analyze productivity, manpower deployment, and resource utilization.

E. Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure that all work complies with safety standards (HSE) and quality control procedures.
  • Conduct periodic site audits and enforce corrective actions.
  • Maintain adherence to statutory, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

F. Stakeholder & Client Coordination

  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors, and government authorities.
  • Participate in review meetings, technical discussions, and progress presentations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with local authorities, landowners, and community stakeholders.

G. Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams including engineers, supervisors, and support staff.
  • Mentor and develop team members to ensure high performance.
  • Manage manpower planning, conflict resolution, and team motivation.

H. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare MIS reports, progress dashboards, cost forecasts, and completion schedules.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of quality records, safety logs, and project correspondence.

3. Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).

Experience

  • DGM: 12–18 years of experience in road/highway construction.
  • GM: 18–25+ years of progressive experience leading large-scale road infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of delivering national/state highway, expressway, or major road projects.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of IRC, MoRTH, and BIS standards.
  • Expertise in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
  • Leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹80, ₹100,000.00 per month
