Role & responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development team of Sheet Metal, Casting and Plastic components, including 3D modeling, drawing creation, and BOM generation, aligned with budget, timeline, and project resource constraints.
  • Responsible for 3D modelling, drawing creation, and BOM generation for mechanical components used in EV platforms, including enclosures, brackets, mounts, and thermal management parts.
  • Drive engineering change management through established processes (ECR & ECN) and ensure timely design release.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes for Sheet Metal and Plastic parts, including DFM/DFA principles.
  • Interpret and apply GD&T, perform tolerance stack-up analysis, and contribute to DFMEA to ensure design robustness and reliability.
  • Independently execute tasks with minimal supervision while proactively identifying design risks and proposing solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, thermal, and systems engineers to ensure mechanical-electrical integration.
  • Utilize PLM tools (Teamcenter preferred) for data management, version control, and release workflows.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of issues during development, validation, or field operation.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in mechanical design for EVs, including lightweight materials, thermal systems, and modular design.
  • Exposure to IP sealing, thermal interface design, EMC shielding, and high-voltage packaging will be an added advantage.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or master's degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5 to 12 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, preferably in product or component development.
  • Strong experience with Creo for 3D CAD modelling and Teamcenter or similar PLM tools.
  • Proven ability to generate and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Sound knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, and design validation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with EV-specific requirements such as high-voltage component packaging, structural design for vibration/shock, and thermal management systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
