About the Role

Pepi Studios is seeking a highly skilled FX Artist
with strong expertise in
Houdini, Cinema 4D, and Unreal Engine
. The ideal candidate will create stunning visual effects that enhance storytelling across films, commercials and high-end 3D content. You will be responsible for designing procedural, dynamic and particle-based effects that elevate the visual quality of our projects.

Key Responsibilities

FX Creation & Simulation

• Create high-quality simulations including
  smoke, fire, explosions, water, dust, destruction, particles, magic effects
  , and more.
• Develop procedural setups using
  Houdini
  for dynamic and scalable FX workflows.
• Build motion graphics or abstract FX using
  Cinema 4D
  .
• Implement real-time FX inside
  Unreal Engine
  , ensuring performance-optimized results.

Technical Execution

• Utilize physics-based simulation techniques for realistic behavior and interaction.
• Optimize FX setups for render efficiency and real-time playback.
• Maintain clean, reusable node and project structures.

Collaboration & Pipeline

• Work closely with animation, lighting, compositing, and environment teams to integrate FX seamlessly.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions that fit production constraints.
• Follow studio pipeline standards and contribute to improving FX workflows.

Required Skills & Software Proficiency

• Houdini
  – strong procedural FX and simulation knowledge.
• Cinema 4D
  – motion graphics, dynamics, and artistic FX creation.
• Unreal Engine
  – Niagara, real-time FX, shader-based effects.
• Strong understanding of physics, particle systems, and volumetrics.
• Ability to create both realistic and stylized effects depending on project needs.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Knowledge of
  Python/VEX
  scripting for automation and tool development.
• Experience with
  render engines
  (Arnold, Redshift, Octane, Unreal Lumen).
• Basic understanding of compositing (Nuke/After Effects).
• Ability to create FX concepts or reference mood boards.

Candidate Profile

• Strong artistic eye with good sense of motion, timing, and realism.
• Excellent problem-solving and iterative testing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams.
• Must provide a
  demo reel
  showcasing FX work created in Houdini, C4D, or Unreal.
