Ink Technician

Job Title: Ink Matcher

Department: Printing / Ink Kitchen

Reports To: Production / Quality Head

Job Purpose:

To ensure accurate formulation, preparation, and matching of inks as per customer and production requirements, maintaining quality standards and minimizing waste in the printing and packaging process.

Key Responsibilities:

Match inks (shade, viscosity, density, gloss, opacity, etc.) to approved customer samples and production standards.

Mix and prepare inks using proper formulas, ensuring batch-to-batch consistency.

Maintain ink kitchen records, shade cards, and formulation data.

Conduct viscosity and pH checks to ensure ink performance on press.

Assist press operators in troubleshooting ink-related issues during production runs.

Monitor ink consumption, reduce wastage, and support cost control measures.

Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards while handling inks and chemicals.

Coordinate with suppliers for technical support on inks, additives, and color-matching software (if applicable).

Maintain proper storage and labeling of ink inventory.

Work closely with Quality Control to ensure that printed materials meet client specifications.

Key Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of color theory and ink mixing techniques.

Familiar with gravure, flexographic, or offset printing processes (depending on company setup).

Ability to operate ink mixing and dispensing equipment.

Attention to detail with good color vision (no color blindness).

Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in ink-related issues.

Basic computer knowledge for maintaining formulation records.

Knowledge of safety and chemical handling procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

ITI / Diploma in Printing Technology or Chemistry background preferred.

2–5 years of experience in ink matching within the printing & packaging industry.

Experience in flexible packaging, corrugation, or label printing is an added advantage.

Work Conditions:

Factory-based role (Ink Kitchen / Press Floor).

Requires standing, manual ink mixing, and occasional heavy lifting.

Exposure to solvents, pigments, and chemicals (with safety gear provided).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹8, ₹41,070.88 per month
