About the Team:
Our team within the Industrial Business specializes in taking on significant engineering projects in the Mining & Metallurgy, Chemical, Food, and Pharma sectors. We ensure safe, reliable, low-carbon nuclear power generation and preparation for safe and efficient defueling. We also support other parts of the AtkinsRealis Nuclear & Power business, covering the full life cycle from new build through to deconstruction. Responsibilities:

  • Develop 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Create part models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings with a focus on mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Interpret engineering sketches and specifications to produce accurate and efficient designs.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other designers to ensure design intent and project requirements are met.
  • Perform design checks, tolerance analysis, and ensure manufacturability of components.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into models and drawings.
  • Maintain drawing standards and ensure compliance with project and industry codes.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical designs with structural, piping, and electrical systems.
  • Support the preparation of BOMs (Bill of Materials), fabrication drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Assist in the development of design automation tools and templates within Inventor.

Required skills and experience:

  • Diploma/Engineering Graduate in Mechanical or Production Engineering with 3 to 7 years of experience.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault for mechanical design and documentation.
  • Experience in designing mechanical systems, equipment layouts, and fabrication drawings.
  • Familiarity with international design standards and codes (ASME, ISO, DIN, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple design tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in working on multidisciplinary projects in sectors like Mining, Chemical, or Industrial Plants.
  • Knowledge of data management systems and version control practices.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience with simulation tools like Inventor Nastran or Ansys for basic FEA.
  • Exposure to Plant 3D, Navisworks, or other BIM tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with piping and structural interfaces in mechanical design.
  • The ability to automate repetitive design tasks using iLogic or Scripting in Inventor.
