UPS Service Engineer

Role & responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and test Online UPS systems (1 kVA 200 kVA) at customer sites.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in UPS, SMPS, power modules, chargers, and stabilizers.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and ensure smooth operation of UPS and battery systems.
  • Handle breakdown calls, complete service within SLA, and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct battery testing (VRLA / SMF / Tubular / Ni-Cd) and maintain proper service logs.
  • Read, understand, and work with electrical SLDs, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
  • Identify card-level issues, replace components/modules, and escalate major faults when needed.
  • Coordinate with internal teams for spares, service scheduling, and technical assistance.
  • Prepare detailed service reports, checklists, and installation documentation.
  • Support AMC customers and ensure timely follow-up for service renewals.
  • Maintain tools, meters, and safety practices during all service activities.
  • Travel to customer sites in Chennai and nearby regions as part of field operations.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Education: ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, EEE or ECE.
  • Experience: 14 years in UPS / Power Electronics / SMPS / Battery Charger servicing.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Online UPS, stabilizers, and industrial power systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot UPS faults at component/card/power module level.
  • Good understanding of VRLA, Tubular, and Ni-Cd battery systems.
  • Able to read SLDs, wiring diagrams, and electrical drawings.
  • Should be comfortable with field travel and customer interaction.
  • Good communication, discipline, and timely service reporting skills.
  • Experience in handling AMC sites and emergency breakdown calls preferred.
  • Candidates with experience in Hykon, Numeric, Eaton, APC, Vertiv, Delta, Emerson, BPE will have added advantage.
  • Immediate joiners or short notice period preferred.
