Alteryx is looking for a seasoned tech lead or early-career engineering manager to lead one of the teams in the cloud engines group. You will be building the core execution layer for Alteryx analytics cloud with some of the industry's most brilliant engineers. If you have spent a considerable part of your career in scalable/distributed data processing systems and are passionate about mentoring and assisting budding professionals, this is an excellent opportunity for you

Responsibilities

  • Own and build the core execution layer for the Alteryx analytics cloud's Designer Cloud Product
  • Act as a thought leader for the cloud engines team.
  • Collaborate with the peer team across Engineering and Product groups.
  • Mentor and lead the direct reports, help them grow in their career
  • Understand and implement the SDLC process Alteryx follow.
  • Represent your team in engineering and release management meetings.
  • Work closely with the team and play a techno-managerial role for them.
  • Play a pivotal role and deliver some critical efforts from the product and engineering roadmap.
  • Responsible for the execution of your team's projects.
  • Attract, retain and nurture talented software engineers in the team.

Requirements

  • You have 7 or more years of experience as a software engineer (or in a similar role), taking projects from the initial concept to production.
  • You have 4+ years of experience working with scalable distributed data processing systems.
  • You have strong experience as a backend tech lead with deep knowledge of and java-based stacks and frameworks.
  • You have solid system design experience for performant, scalable, and reliable backend microservices.
  • You have a bias towards action and a can-do attitude.
  • You have 1-2 years of experience managing a team of 3-5 engineers as a people manager or tech lead.
  • You have experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders (developers, product management, user experience design, quality assurance).
  • You are a communicative and collaborative manager with excellent people skills and English language fluency.
  • You have experience working with cross-site teams.
  • You will showcase independence and domain knowledge.
