We are seeking a skilled professional who can act as both a Japanese Translator and a Business Development lead for our Japan desk and other international ventures.

Role Overview:

This role is ideal for someone who can bridge language, culture, and business strategy. The ideal candidate will not only handle high-level translation and interpretation but also play a key role in developing business opportunities with Japanese and other international clients. You will work directly with senior leadership and contribute to the firm's global growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Translation & Interpretation:

  • Translate business documents, presentations, financial reports, and client communications from Japanese to English and vice versa.
  • Provide real-time interpretation during client meetings, calls, and events.
  • Ensure culturally and contextually accurate communication between Japanese clients and internal teams.

Business Development & Global Expansion:

  • Identify, target, and develop relationships with Japanese businesses operating or planning to expand into India.
  • Build strategic partnerships with Japanese trade bodies, embassies, business councils, and consulting firms.
  • Coordinate marketing and outreach activities for Japanese prospects (events, webinars, localized content).
  • Assist in developing service offerings and proposals tailored to Japanese businesses.
  • Represent the firm in Japanese business forums and international delegations.

Qualifications:

Must-Have:

  • JLPT N1 or N2 certification.
  • 3 years of relevant work experience in translation and/or business development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of Japanese business practices and etiquette.

Preferred, not compulsory

  • Prior experience working with a professional services firm (CA firm, law firm, Big 4, etc.) ( Beneficial, not compulsory)
  • Experience with Japanese companies operating in India or APAC region.
  • Familiarity with Indian financial, tax, or regulatory environments.
  • Network within Japanese business community (e.g., JETRO, JCCII, JBIC, etc.).
