Role & responsibilities

Operations and Maintenance (O&M)

  • Ensure Reliable Power Generation: Oversee the day-to-day operations to meet energy production targets and ensure the reliable flow of electricity to the grid.
  • Optimize Plant Performance: Develop and implement strategies to maximize energy efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and minimize downtime (unplanned outages).
  • Maintenance Oversight: Direct the maintenance teams, manage preventive and predictive maintenance schedules, and coordinate major outages or equipment overhauls (e.g., turbine or boiler inspections).

  • Technical Review: Review and approve plans, blueprints, and specifications for new equipment installation, upgrades, and major repairs.

  • Safety, Health, and Compliance (EHS)

  • Safety Leadership: Establish and enforce comprehensive safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all employees and contractors, adhering to regulations like OSHA.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the plant complies with all local, state, federal, and international environmental laws (air emissions, water discharge, waste disposal) and power generation regulatory standards.

  • Reporting: Review and sign off on all safety, environmental, and operational reports submitted to regulatory bodies and senior management.

  • Financial and Resource Management

  • Budget Management: Prepare, administer, and monitor the plant's operating and capital budgets, controlling costs for fuel, maintenance, spare parts, and labor.

  • Resource Allocation: Effectively manage and allocate all resources, including staff, contractors, equipment, and inventory (e.g., fuel and spare parts).

  • Cost Reduction: Implement cost-control measures and explore opportunities to improve overall economic performance and profitability.

  • Personnel and Leadership

  • Team Management: Manage and lead a diverse team of engineers, operators, technicians, and administrative staff.

  • Hiring and Development: Handle hiring, training, performance evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address employee grievances and issues, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between the plant, corporate leadership, regulatory agencies, and community members.
