Role Objective:

To carry out detailed inspections of completed UAV systems, sub-assemblies, and components before release, ensuring full compliance with design specifications, aerospace quality standards, and customer requirements. The role safeguards airworthiness by validating structural, mechanical, electrical, and avionics integrity, preventing non-conforming products from reaching customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed final inspections on UAV assemblies, avionics, propulsion systems, payload integration, and structural assemblies.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy, fit, finish, and workmanship against approved drawings, technical specifications, and checklists.
  • Ensure proper installation, routing, and termination of wiring harnesses and avionics systems.
  • Check torque settings, fasteners, bonding, adhesives, and coatings.
  • Oversee or witness UAV functional tests (power-on checks, communication systems, sensor calibration, propulsion system tests).
  • Validate system responses against acceptance criteria and test procedures.
  • Ensure environmental and operational checks (weight & balance, CG verification, battery/propulsion safety checks).
  • Review and approve all production records, inspection reports, and quality documentation.
  • Ensure completion of conformity checklists.
  • Maintain traceability of all parts, materials, and processes used in final UAV build.
  • Approve Certificates of Conformance (CoC) for final release.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conformities; ensure proper disposition through NCRs.
  • Verify rework/repair completion before final acceptance.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and regulatory/customer-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate with Production, Engineering, and QA teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Participate in customer and regulatory audits, inspections, and acceptance reviews.
  • Provide feedback to design and manufacturing teams to enhance product quality.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in Visual, dimensional and Functional inspection methods
  • Ability to inspect Mechanical, Electronic, and Composite of UAV parts.
  • Familiarity with acceptance criteria for precision machined components of UAV.
  • Skilled with tools such as Micrometer, calliper, height gauge, multimeters, Optical Comparator and Pin Gauges
  • Able to read and Interpret Engineering drawings, BOM and Assembly drawings
  • Understanding of Quality standards like ISO9001 & AS 9100.
  • Understanding of IPC-A-610 (For Electronics)
  • Familiar with SAP or ERP software
  • Ability to identify root cause analysis for quality issues and assist in resolving them.
  • Works well with cross-functional team (e.g., Engineering, SCM, Production, Stores etc…)
  • Efficient in completing inspections under time constraints to avoid production delays

Education & Experience

  • Education: Diploma in Mechanical / Aeronautical / Aerospace / Electrical / Electronic Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification).
  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in quality inspection within aerospace, UAV, automotive, or precision manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to aerospace quality standards (AS9100 / ISO 9001), composite structures, avionics, and mechanical assemblies preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time on-site position based in Bangalore, India
  • May require extended hours or weekend work during critical phases
  • Occasional travel for vendor or site visits
