Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated IT Security Specialist to protect our systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. The ideal candidate will proactively identify vulnerabilities, manage security tools, respond to incidents, and ensure the organization follows best security practices. Key Responsibilities System & Data Protection: Develop and implement security policies to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of company data and systems. Vulnerability Management: Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses and recommend or implement upgrades. Threat Monitoring & Incident Response: Continuously monitor networks for suspicious activity, investigate security incidents, and coordinate recovery efforts. Security Tool Administration: Install, configure, and manage firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus software, SIEM systems, and other security tools. Employee Training: Deliver security awareness sessions to help employees recognize and avoid threats such as phishing and social engineering. Auditing & Reporting: Perform regular audits, analyze security trends, and prepare reports on system status, risks, and improvements. Required Skills & Qualifications
Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Technical Skills Proficiency in security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SIEM. Strong knowledge of encryption, network security, and operating systems (especially Windows environments). Understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Certifications (Preferred) CISSP, CEH, CISM, or similar security certifications.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in risk assessment, incident response, or security operations. Familiarity with secure coding practices. Understanding of GRC (Governance, Risk Management & Compliance) principles. Experience with government or industry standards such as STIGs or DoD requirements.
