Job Duties and Deliverables:
- Upgrade or Install Puppet Enterprise Infrastructure
Perform the upgrade or installation using the Forge module PEADM.
Upgrade or install the Puppet Primary infrastructure: Upgrade/install Puppet primary and replica (if applicable). Upgrade/install compile master(s) (if applicable).
- Verify Upgraded Infrastructure Functionality:
Validate all PE Infrastructure servers are successfully receiving catalogs.
Ensure functionality of Code Manager, r10k, and CD4PE Puppet code deployment.
Confirm functionality using PE support tools (e.g., puppet infrastructure status, puppet tuning, puppet infrastructure support).
Deploy and verify Puppet Metrics as necessary.
Review and implement the Puppet Backup Process where applicable.
If appropriate, verify the functionality of the Puppet primary replica by temporarily disabling the primary Puppet master.
- Update Puppet Enterprise Agents:
Ensure the upgraded Puppet Enterprise infrastructure manages systems with updated Puppet Agents.
Verify Puppet Agents are successfully processing catalogs from the upgraded infrastructure. 4. Migration Strategy and Code Modifications:
Develop a defined strategy for the migration of all nodes.
Implement any necessary modifications to the Customers Puppet code to enable the upgrade.
- Support Handover: Complete a comprehensive Support Handover for the newly upgraded infrastructure.
