Drone Pilot

Location: Outside India

Responsibilities

Drone Operations

• Plan, execute, and manage UAV flights for large-scale mining sites.
• Perform aerial mapping, volumetric surveys, LiDAR data capture, and orthomosaic generation.
• Ensure UAV operations comply with DGCA/FAA/local aviation regulations and site safety standards.
• Maintain drone equipment, carry out pre/post-flight checks, and troubleshoot technical issues.

Surveying & Geospatial Analysis

• Conduct topographical surveys, boundary surveys, pit progression surveys, and stockpile volume calculations.
• Process photogrammetry/LiDAR data using tools such as Pix4D, DJI Terra, Agisoft Metashape, Trimble, etc.
• Produce high-accuracy DEMs, contours, 3D models, and GIS layers for mine planning and monitoring.
• Integrate UAV data with ground surveys (RTK/PPK, Total Station, GNSS).

Mining Project Support

• Provide survey inputs for mine planning, excavation control, and production reporting.
• Monitor haul roads, pit slopes, dumps, tailings facilities, and environmental compliance areas.
• Support monthly/quarterly reconciliation and audit requirements with accurate spatial data.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare survey reports, flight logs, compliance documents, and data deliverables.
• Present findings to geology, planning, and operations teams with actionable insights.

Qualifications

• 10+ years
  of experience in UAV/drone operations and land surveying, preferably in
  open-cast mining
  .
• Certification/licensing as a
  Commercial Drone Pilot
  (DGCA/FAA or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of
  survey standards
  ,
  mine planning workflows
  , and
  geospatial accuracy principles
  .
• Hands-on experience with:
• UAVs: DJI Matrice series, Phantom/Enterprise series, fixed-wing drones, LiDAR platforms.
