Roles & Responsibilities of a Jewellery Cashier

  • Cash Handling & Billing
  • Handle all cash, card, UPI, and cheque transactions accurately.
  • Prepare and issue invoices/bills for customer purchases.
  • Ensure correct entry of product details, weights, and prices in billing software.
  • Customer Interaction
  • Greet and assist customers during the billing process.
  • Explain billing details, discounts, offers, and payment options clearly.
  • Address customer queries related to payments, receipts, and GST invoices.
  • Record Keeping & Reporting
  • Maintain daily cash register reports and sales summaries.
  • Reconcile daily sales, cash, and bank transactions with accounts team.
  • Track advance payments, refunds, and credit sales (if applicable).
  • Security & Compliance
  • Follow company policies for handling jewellery transactions.
  • Ensure proper documentation for high-value purchases.
  • Verify customer identity where required (PAN card, Aadhaar for gold above limits).
  • Coordination
  • Work closely with sales executives and store manager to ensure smooth billing.
  • Support stock audit teams with billing data.
  • Coordinate with finance/accounts for bank deposit slips and tallying balances.
  • System & Software Usage
  • Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems and jewellery billing software.
  • Maintain accuracy in gold weight, diamond certifications, and hallmark details.
  • Update customer details in CRM for loyalty programs and future reference.
  • Other Responsibilities
  • Handle petty cash for store expenses if assigned.
  • Assist during promotions, festivals, and peak sales with faster billing.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and customer data..
