Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Welding Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will hold a valid CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification from AWS or CSWIP 3.2.2 from TWI, with over 10 years of experience in welding inspection, particularly in pressure vessel and heat exchanger fabrication. The role involves ensuring conformance to welding standards, performing inspections, and maintaining quality throughout the production process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welding Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections on pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and related components to ensure compliance with welding codes (ASME, AWS, PED).
- Interpretation of Codes: Interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, and specifications to ensure adherence to relevant standards.
- Quality Control: Perform visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) as necessary to verify weld quality and structural integrity.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records and reports on inspections, testing, and welding processes.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure welding activities meet both internal and external quality standards, including safety and environmental regulations.
- Inspection of Welders: Monitor welder performance to ensure compliance with welding procedures and safety protocols.
- Collaboration: Work with QA/QC, engineering, and production teams to resolve quality issues and ensure timely inspections.
- Training & Mentorship: Mentor junior welding inspectors and production personnel on best practices.
- Third-Party Inspections: Manage third-party inspections and customer audits as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Diploma/Bachelors in Mechanical/Production Engineering or equivalent.
- Certifications: Mandatory CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) or CSWIP 3.2.2.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in welding inspection, particularly in heavy fabrication or pressure vessel manufacturing.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and NDT techniques.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and interpreting results.
- Lean Six Sigma Certification (desirable).
- Familiarity with MES and quality management software.
