This is a strategic leadership role where the GM will position the Convention Centre as a premier national convention & MICE destination, blending business generation, operational excellence, and people leadership.
1. Proven National-Level Convention & MICE Experience:
- Years of Relevant Experience: Minimum 1012 years in senior leadership roles at large convention hotels or integrated MICE destinations. ( Sales would be advantageous)
- Convention Scale Managed: Has directly overseen events of 1,000+ delegates and multiple concurrent breakout sessions.
- Portfolio Breadth: Demonstrated experience across national association events, corporate conventions, and high-profile government conferences.
2. PCO, Event Planner & Industry Network Strength:
- PCO Network Depth: Established personal relationships with minimum 30+ active national PCOs.
- Event Planner Connectivity: Proven track record of converting event planner relationships into high-value business (documented wins).
- Association Engagement: Active member or speaker at national MICE industry forums (ICPB, SITE, MPI, etc.).
3. Pre-Opening & Launch Experience:
- Hotel Launch Track Record: Successfully led at least 12 large-scale hotel/convention pre-openings from construction to operational go-live.
- System Implementation Exposure: Direct experience in implementing Opera PMS, advanced MICE booking systems, and integrated banquet management tools during pre-opening.
- OS&E & Staff Mobilization: Proven ability to recruit, train, and operationalize 300+ key hotels within 6 months pre-launch.
4. Revenue Generation & Business Conversion Skills:
- MICE Revenue Performance: History of delivering 50+ crore annual MICE revenues.
- Conversion Rate: Documented 30% RFP conversion in a competitive national market.
- Rate Strategy Acumen: Strong understanding of national MICE pricing strategies, dynamic packaging, and upselling.
5. Leadership & Team-Building Capability:
- Team Size Managed: Led teams of 150+ employees, including senior sales, banquet, and operations managers.
- Talent Development: History of creating leadership pipelines and low attrition in high-pressure convention environments.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Demonstrated ability to integrate banquet operations, F&B, rooms division, and AV/technical teams seamlessly for large events.
