As a Senior Test Data Engineer at TJX, you will work with a team that partners with the C360 product management team and delivers products for one or more customer analytics product teams. We seek passionate testers with expertise designing, developing, and maintaining data quality solutions. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in ETL framework testing (preferably Talend or DataStage), BI report testing (preferably Power BI, Cognos), cloud technologies (preferably Azure, Databricks), SQL/PLSQL coding, and Unix/Python scripting.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, and Scrum Teams to review backlog items and define Test Requirements.

• Design and implement test strategies and test plan for end-to-end ETL, BI, and data integration solutions, including functional, non-functional, system, UAT and regression testing.

• Perform comprehensive testing for transactional and analytical systems, data pipelines, including File based, API, streaming, and cloud-to-cloud data sharing, to ensure data integrity and system compliance

• Develop and implement automated testing solutions using appropriate test automation frameworks to optimize efficiency and repetitive validation tasks.

• Validate data transformations using advanced SQL, stored procedures, and database design principles.

• Utilize Unix/Python scripting for data validation, and process automation.

• Contribute to developing ETL solutions using tools like Talend or DataStage OR building stored procedures, scheduling workflows, and integrating data pipelines. Additionally, develop BI reports using tools like Power BI or Cognos.

• Apply expertise in data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data mart design for validation and testing.

• Track, document, and manage defects and test artifacts using test management tools like JIRA, Zephyr, and Confluence.

• Act as a Testing SME, sharing knowledge artifacts and best practices across the team.

• Proactively conduct data audits and assessments to identify and resolve quality issues across data sources.

• Ensure compliance with data governance policies and assess business processes for efficiency improvements.

• Troubleshoot production issues, host defect Triage and collaborating with developers and Business to ensure timely resolution.

• Adapt to shifting priorities, communicate progress effectively, and support continuous improvements in testing processes.

Key Skills (Must Have's):

• 4-year college degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.

• 5+ years in data quality assurance, ETL testing, DB testing or a related field.

• 4+ year of experience in data testing using ETL tool experience like Talend, DataStage or equivalent.

• 3+ year of experience is automated & Data Quality testing using tools like TOSCA, ICEDQ or equivalent frameworks.

• 4+ year Advanced SQL/PL SQL experience (Snowflake a plus).

• 3+ year Experience in Agile, Scrum Frameworks.

• 3+ years of experience with writing Test Plan, test strategies, test cases and test scripts.

• 3+ Experience with JIRA, Zephyr, Confluence, or similar tools.

• 2+ year of experience in data visualization testing (PowerBI, Cognos preferred).

• 1+ year of experience in building end to end ETL/BI pipeline OR building stored procedures, scheduling workflows, and integrating data pipelines and develop BI reports using tools like Power BI or Cognos.

• 1+ year of experience with Unix shell scripting or Python.

• Strong knowledge of System Testing, UAT, Integration, and Regression Testing.

• Should Understand requirements, data models, data mapping documents and translate them into test cases and validation strategies.

Non-Technical Skills: 

• Strong expertise in Agile methodologies, SDLC, and documentation best practices.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to analyze complex data and business requirements.

• Effective communicator, organized, and a collaborative team player.

• Ability to work with cross-functional teams, adapt to evolving business needs, and effectively manage shifting priorities.

Key Skills (Nice to Have's):

• Prior experience in Customer Analytics, Retail, or E-commerce domains.

• Knowledge of cloud data platforms like Azure, Databricks for data processing and analytics.

• Familiarity with data governance policies and data compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).

• Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, JFrog, GitHub, and CI/CD automation for testing and deployment, as well as job scheduling and monitoring.

• Exposure to API Platforms like Apigee, Dell Boomi, Postman, and API-driven testing frameworks.

• Experience validating unstructured data formats, including XML, JSON, Parquet.
