Role Overview

As a Product Design Lead, you will be responsible for architecting and executing our Energy Storage Solutions - batteries for Electric Vehicles and Power Backup Solutions for Large Commercial Applications. The role will involve working with a cross-functional team to define, design, prototype, test and ramp up production. A sense of ownership, cross-functional understanding and keen sense of engineering tradeoffs is a must to succeed. The ideal candidate would have been a part of complete product development journeys. for electro-mechanical systems. Expertise in at-least one and working familiarity with all four of Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Firmware domains is a must.

Role Description and Key Responsibilities

The role involves tasks including but not limited to -

• Work with the Business Development Team to define requirements.
• Undertake Requirement Discussions and Planning with Customers.
• Collaborate with your cross-functional team, composed of mechanical, electrical, thermal, testing, and prototyping engineers to develop the product.
• Maintaining Traceability of Testing Plans with Requirements
• Ensuring that objectives for each gate in the Product Development Process are met
• Collaborating with Program Management to ensure that Bottlenecks are addressed and Project timelines are met
• Working with Supply Chain to ensure availability of parts on time
• Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to optimise the design for injection moulding processes and other manufacturing methods.
• Working with the Homologation team to ensure Product Certifications
• Ensuring handover to the Production team and hand-holding through ramp up

Desired Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelors or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• 4+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in Li-Ion battery design and manufacturing line setup is preferred but not required Experience in Integrating Electro-Mechanical systems

Desired Skills and Attributes

• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or similar).
• Familiarity with plastic materials, injection moulding processes, and tooling design.
• Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design for Assembly) and FMEA principles.
• Understanding of thermal management, vibration, electrical sizing, electrical safety,and wire routing requirements for battery systems
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, reliable products.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
