Function Overview

The Digital and Technology team at General Mills stands as the largest and foremost unit, dedicated to exploring the latest trends and innovations in technology while leading the adoption of cutting-edge technologies across the organization. Purpose of the role

Partner with General Mills Solutions Architects, Infrastructure Engineers, Data Architects, Cyber Security Engineers and Analytics Engineers to architect, build and deploy sustainable, secure, reliable & resilient public cloud infrastructure & foundation to support General Mills' Cloud Line of Business and Data & Analytics projects including associated standards, procedures & processes.

  KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Task

Technology Roadmap / Product Lifecycle

·       Prepare and own Cloud technology road map along as per business need

·       Collaborate with the architects and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive long-term technology roadmaps and associated deliverables.

·       Lead Transformation initiatives – Design, Plan, implement and support

·       Continue to improve technology recovery strategy and process for Cloud engineering activities.

Operational Support

·       Assist with medium to high-level troubleshooting leveraging various Cloud services to identify root cause. Work with vendors as needed to resolve issues.

·       Own and lead deep dive for complex/Critical issues and ensure timely resolution.

·       Manage stakeholders and communication of high impact cloud related issues.

Project Implementation

·       Work with project teams and vendors to provide cloud platform design and optimization recommendations

·       Assist with project planning, execution, and implementation of cloud related projects.

·       Provide inputs to IT financial management for cloud – on costs associated with capacity build-out, forecast for cloud IT investments, etc. 

·       Drive optimization and innovation projects in Cloud area suggesting novel solutions for the issues.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

·       Enhance cloud product reliability, availability, and cost-efficiency by developing fault-tolerant tools and ensuring robust infrastructure.

·       Manage and automate capacity scaling across public and private cloud resource pools, supporting developers in optimizing cloud engineering activities (e.g., migration, provisioning, deployment).

·       Provide strategic financial input for cloud IT investments, including cost forecasting and capacity build-out, aligning with business and IT infrastructure vision.

·       Lead the planning and execution of IT Infrastructure Digital Transformation, preparing business cases for new technology adoption.

Administrative

SPECIFIC JOB EXPERIENCE OR SKILLS NEEDED

   

Experience / proficiencies in multiple areas, including:

Proficiency in at least one major public Cloud platform (GCP preferred / Azure / AWS) including deep understanding of their solution & reference architecture, services and capabilities.Proven experience such as Senior Cloud Engineering Architect / Cloud Platform Architect leading Enterprise scale cloud migration projects, on-prem to Public Cloud (GCP preferred, Azure, AWS).Hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining Cloud infrastructure / platform components across compute, network, storage, virtualization, and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)Proven track record of leading large-scale infrastructure upgrades and migrations in the Cloud Platform & infrastructure area.Proven experience driving digital transformation initiatives, including the adoption of new technologies and architecture.Deep understanding of Cloud IAM principles including access control models (RBAC), identity federation, single sign-on (SSO), and least privilege principles. Experience implementing security best practices in cloud environments.Deep understanding of Kubernetes, GKE's managed services, networking, security features, and integration with other Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, Kubernetes orchestrationStrong skills in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform to manage and automate infrastructure provisioning.Know-how of automating infrastructure provisioning and management using Ansible/Salt.Solid understanding of networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, routing, and firewalls.Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Google Build/DevOps or Azure DevOps.Proven experience working in agile environments, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies.Co-ordinate with different enterprise vendors (Google, Hashi Corp, Microsoft etc.) to resolve any issue Collaborate with different enterprise teams (Cyber, DevOps, Platform and Database, etc.).Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash for automating tasks and managing infrastructure.Design and implement comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions to ensure high availability and performance. This includes setting up and managing tools for metrics, tracing, and logging Proven ability in setting up observability using tools such as Datadog / Splunk / New Relic etc. Experience with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack, Experience with artifact repositories (Nexus, Artifactory) is beneficial.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams.

Desired knowledge/exposure:

Integration of Gen AI and Agentic AI capabilities into Cloud Engineering workloads, components etc.Understanding of security best practices and compliance regulations related to AI in cloud environments.Experience in integrating LLMs for tasks such as natural language processing of logs and automated documentation generationArchitecture approaches leveraging AI, for example: cloud infrastructure with self-healing capabilities, using AI to automatically detect and remediate issues without human intervention.Know-how of using AI agent for Terraform code maintenanceAI-driven automation, monitoring (anomaly detection, prediction, capacity planning) & troubleshooting experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is a new role in the Cloud Engineering team which will be located at our Mumbai (or Pune), India location. This person will have other peer team members who work similar hours located in Mumbai, US and UK offices. The person who is hired for this position should possess a solid cloud architecture & technology background, preferably at a Lead level. The candidate will be working as a member of the support team but will be expected to act as a key technical resource after-hours to drive resolution to cloud related issues that occur after-hours of his or her US counterparts.
