Job Description

Legal & Regulatory Expertise

  • GDPR mastery: Deep knowledge of GDPR principles, data subject rights, lawful bases, and accountability.

Risk Management

  • Privacy risk identification: Recognises and categorises privacy risks.
  • Risk mitigation planning: Advises on pragmatic mitigations aligned with GDPR principles.

Technical Understanding

  • Data flow analysis: Understands end-to-end data lifecycle and mapping.
  • Security and privacy controls: Evaluates technical safeguards such as encryption, access control, and logging.
  • Third-party/vendor risk: Assesses data processing agreements, SCCs, and vendor compliance posture.
  • Data transfer compliance: Reviews mechanisms for international transfers (SCCs, adequacy).

Leadership & Communication

  • Stakeholder engagement: Works effectively with legal, IT, compliance, and business teams.
  • Communication of privacy risk: Explains complex findings to non-specialists.
  • Team development: Coaches and mentors privacy analysts.
  • Decision-making: Prioritises and approves assessments in line with risk appetite.

Governance & Process Management

  • Review workflow management: Designs and maintains consistent review processes.
  • Quality assurance & audit readiness: Ensures traceability and documentation of risk decisions.
  • Continuous improvement: Identifies lessons learned and embeds them in processes.
  • Program and project management Manages workload, timelines, and reporting to leadership.
