Platform Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

Zoetis has created a Data and Digital Platform (DDP) team that is driving a step change in the company's ability to harness data, including data generated by the expanding portfolio of Digital Products, to generate disruptive data insights for our customers and colleagues.  As the world leader in animal health, Zoetis seeks to integrate Data and Analytics with its diverse portfolio of animal health products to create additional value to customers and enhance overall customer experience.

Our view of analytics spans from the sensor data collection and analysis on the edge, to the delivery of data insights that help optimize and, in some cases, automate the decision-making process.  You will partner with Data & Analytics team, Cloud teams & other Infrastructure experts to help setup, test maintain the Zoetis Data Platform where innovative digital and analytics products are developed.  The team is leveraging the best-in-class data integration, analytics and techniques, and you will have the opportunity to enhance the platform with new capabilities including Generative AI and other cutting-edge technologies specific to Data & Analytics. The role also demands knowledge on POSIT platform which is a leading open-source and enterprise platform for data science and analytics and its installation on Kubernetes.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Percent of Time
Platform Engineering: Design and develop Frameworks, POCs of new Platform capabilities to help data engineers and data scientists to build solutions on 20%
POSIT Engineering: Support the end-to-end installation, configuration, and deployment of POSIT family of applications. Setup scalable architecture using Kubernetes 15%
Full Stack Development: Design & Develop solutions with a user interface for Platform activities. Expose APIs to share data from the Platform to other internal teams. 15%
Data Engineering: Implement Data solutions working with data processing services on Microsoft Azure cloud. 15%
Platform Operations: Support Data Platform Operations by resolving incidents. Lead root cause analysis and coordinate response to critical platform issues (alerts, vulnerabilities, outages, escalations). 15%
Documentation & SOPs: Document processes, workflows, and platform components 10%
DataOps & CI/CD: Integrate DevOps principles into data workflows using tools like Git and Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions. 5%
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including ZTD Infrastructure, IT, business, and Information Security teams to evolve technology solutions. 5%

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Work closely within DDA and across ZTD IT, Infrastructure, and Business Partners
Team members located Globally both in US and International markets.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Indicate the formal education, certification or license required and/or preferred. Include the minimum number of years of relevant experience required for the position (where legally permissible).

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or relevant field.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Indicate the technical skills required and/or preferred, as applicable.

• Hands-on experience with Azure Platform & its Services, Databricks

• Full Stack development experience

• Developing & Testing APIs

• Strong programming skills and experience in Java, SQL, Apache Spark, Python

• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. 

• Experience in Kubernetes, POSIT studio

• Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques. (a plus)

Preferable to work till 12 PM EST since the team has PST time zone colleagues too
