Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Oracle Backup & Recovery Engineer to design, implement, and manage comprehensive backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for Oracle database environments. The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience with Oracle RMAN, Data Guard, and backup automation in both on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring data integrity, availability, and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement Oracle backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and third-party tools.
  • Perform database backups (full/incremental/archivelog) and restores (point-in-time, tablespace, block-level) as required.
  • Manage disaster recovery and high availability solutions, including Oracle Data Guard (physical/logical standby).
  • Automate backup jobs and validation processes using scripts, RMAN catalogs, and scheduling tools (e.g., cron, OEM).
  • Monitor backup job success, analyze logs, and remediate failures.
  • Conduct backup and recovery testing, including DR simulations and documentation of procedures.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Oracle Flashback, Fast Recovery Area (FRA), and archivelog management.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and storage teams to ensure adequate backup storage capacity and retention.
  • Support upgrades, patching, and migrations with pre/post-backup strategies.
  • Work with security teams to ensure compliance with backup encryption and data protection policies.
  • Provide on-call and off-hours support for recovery and DR events when required.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of Oracle ASM, Flash Recovery Area, and archive log management.
  • Hands-on experience with point-in-time recovery (PITR) and tablespace recovery.
  • Knowledge of backup encryption, compression, and retention policies.
  • Experience with cloud-based backup strategies (Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS, Azure).
