Role Overview
The Director, Oracle Transformation Delivery Operations will lead the successful design, execution, and stabilization of the Oracle Fusion Cloud implementation for the GSM Sub-ledger and P2P workstreams, as part of American Express's enterprise-wide Finance and GSM Transformation program.
This is a hands-on delivery leadership role accountable for orchestrating end-to-end implementation activities — including functional design, configuration, integrations, data migration and hypercare — ensuring subledger processes are migrated seamlessly and meet all compliance and control requirements.
The Director will collaborate closely with Finance, Technology, Tax, Capabilities, and System Integrator partners, translating strategy into actionable delivery plans, managing cross-functional dependencies, and driving operational excellence across assigned workstreams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Execution & Workstream Leadership
- Lead end-to-end delivery of Oracle Fusion Cloud workstreams within the GSM Sub-ledger Program — including Accounts Payable, Procurement, Supplier, Tax, Integrations, Disbursements, and Accounting.
- Translate strategic transformation goals into detailed implementation plans with clear timelines, deliverables, and ownership.
- Drive daily coordination across Finance, Technology, Capabilities, and System Integrator teams to ensure milestones are met and issues resolved.
- Proactively manage program risks, dependencies, and escalations, providing transparent updates to senior leadership and PMO forums.
2. Functional Design, Integration & Data Readiness
- Oversee functional design sessions and ensure Oracle Fusion configurations align with Amex policies and control standards.
- Manage integration, data migration, and conversion efforts, ensuring data integrity, traceability, and auditability across systems.
- Partner with Technology and System Integrators to define validation checkpoints, reconciliation processes, and readiness criteria for migration cycles.
- Lead tax configuration activities to ensure compliance with global and U.S. tax regulations.
3. Compliance, Controls & Quality Assurance
- Enforce governance discipline across all delivery activities, ensuring adherence to SOX, internal audit, and data governance standards.
- Maintain complete program documentation, change controls, and testing evidence to support audit and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee compliance with global and India-specific data residency and localization requirements across systems and integrations.
- Partner with Finance Controls, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure operational resilience and audit readiness.
5. People Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and inspire a team of functional and technical consultants, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
- Provide technical oversight, feedback, and mentoring to ensure delivery quality and professional growth.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, Business, or related field required.
- Experience: 15+ years of leadership experience managing global Procure-to-Pay operations within complex, multi-entity organizations.
- Proven success leading large-scale finance transformation programs and Oracle Cloud / E-Business Suite (EBS) implementations.
- Deep expertise in Payments and Procurement systems — including integration with enterprise platforms (e.g., Ariba, internal payment ecosystems, etc.).
- Strong understanding of financial controls, data governance, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders across Finance, Technology, Capabilities, System Integrator, and Risk.
