Lead Android App Developer

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy robust Android applications using Kotlin (and Java where necessary).
  • Work closely with product, design, and backend teams to translate requirements into scalable features.
  • Implement clean and maintainable code following guidelines and best practices.
  • Optimize app performance, memory usage, battery consumption, and network efficiency.
  • Integrate and manage RESTful APIs and third-party SDKs/libraries.
  • Work with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for device scanning, connections, data transfer, and OTA updates (preferred).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to devices, compatibility, OS versions, or performance.
  • Collaborate in agile development cycles (Scrum).

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on Android development.
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Expertise with Android components (View Model, Database(s), Navigation, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of Android OS, lifecycles, multitasking, background services, and permissions.
  • Strong knowledge of coroutines, asynchronous programming, and thread management.
  • Experience with BLE (GATT, characteristics, services, notifications, MTU handling) is a plus.
  • Experience integrating APIs using Retrofit/OkHttp.
  • Experience with Gradle, build optimization, modularization, and dependency injection (Hilt/Koin/Dagger).

Good To Have:

  • Familiarity with Jetpack Compose and modern UI development.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Experience with secure coding, encryption, and protecting mobile app data.
  • Ability to work with Firebase services (FCM, Analytics, Crashlytics).
