Key Responsibilities

Scale-Up Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end scale-up activities for thick film paste formulations from lab/pilot scale to full commercial production volumes
  • Develop and execute comprehensive scale-up strategies, including equipment selection, process parameter optimization, and validation protocols
  • Establish scalable manufacturing processes that maintain paste rheology, printability, and electrical performance characteristics across production volumes
  • Collaborate closely with R&D teams to translate laboratory processes into robust, repeatable manufacturing procedures.

Process Development & Optimization

  • Design and implement process controls for paste manufacturing, including mixing, milling, dispersion, and quality assurance procedures
  • Optimize batch consistency, particle size distribution, viscosity profiles, and other critical paste properties during scale-up
  • Develop process documentation including batch records, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing instructions
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges related to equipment limitations, raw material variability, and process scalability.

Technical Leadership & Team Management

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Set clear objectives, conduct performance reviews, and support professional development.
  • Partner with R&D to ensure smooth technology transfer and maintain product specifications during scale-up
  • Work with Quality Assurance to establish quality control protocols and acceptance criteria for scaled-up products
  • Collaborate with future Manufacturing Operations to ensure seamless production implementation and troubleshooting support
  • Interface with Sales/Technical Service teams to address customer requirements and application performance feedback

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Masters preferred)
  • 8-12 years of experience in process engineering with at least 5 years in scale-up activities
  • Experience in paste, inks, adhesives, slurry, or dispersion manufacturing required;

Technical Expertise

  • Deep understanding of dispersion technology, rheology, and material properties
  • Proven track record of successful scale-up from lab/pilot to commercial production

Strong knowledge of mixing technologies, milling equipment, and dispersion processes

  • Expertise in process validation, statistical analysis, and troubleshooting methodologies

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent project management skills with ability to manage multiple scale-up projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Outstanding communication skills with ability to present technical information to diverse audiences
  • Proficiency with process simulation software, statistical tools (Minitab, JMP), and MS Office suite
  • Experience with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar quality management systems preferred
