Enterprise Software Test Engineer II

A Day in the LifeSoftware Engineer in Test for the R&D Engineering function of Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center R&D facility. The individual will operate in all phases and contribute to all activities of the software development process. The candidate must be willing to work in a fast-paced, multitasking team environment. The Senior Engineer frequently interacts with Tech Lead, other developers, V&V engineers, internal partners and stakeholders concerning estimations, design, implementation or requirement clarifications, works closely with global sites.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned

• Work closely with developers and Systems Engineers to understand the specifics of the Application, Cloud based/Web/Mobile application architecture & operating platform on which the Application would run and due considerations
• Read, analyze, understand product requirements; support requirements reviews.
• Take the high level requirements and independently complete test development per the defined processes.
• Design and execute project test plans and strategies.
• Determine and onboard Cloud based application testing technologies and decisions.
• Design and execute tests using automated test tools, as well as Manual test development
• Establish and maintain traceability from software requirements to verification test design and implementation.
•  Design and develop test protocols for assigned features
•  Develop, run, and maintain suite(s) of automation tests
• Maintain and grow knowledge of platform configuration management, monitoring,
• and troubleshooting
• Work under general direction and collaboratively with internal and external partners.
•  Continuously keep updated with latest technology trends and channel that learning to Medtronic Product development.

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Proficiency in at least one programming language, often Swift, Kotlin, Python, Java, or C#, is essential for
• writing and maintaining automation scripts.
• Automation Tools and Frameworks:
• Experience with popular automation tools like Selenium, Appium, JUnit, or TestNG, and
• The ability to design effective test cases, create automation scripts, and develop reusable
• test components is vital.
• CI/CD and DevOps:
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and DevOps practices is increasingly important for automating test execution and integrating
• automation into the software development lifecycle.
• Version Control:
• Proficiency in using version control systems like Git is essential for managing and
• collaborating on automation scripts.
• Databases and SQL:
• Debugging and Troubleshooting:
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills are necessary to identify and fix issues in
• automation scripts and test environments.
• Performance, Security, and Regression Testing:
• Experience in these types of testing, particularly in an automated context, can be a
• significant advantage.
