We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Agronomist Sustainability to drive sustainable agricultural practices across our sourcing and farming network. The role involves working closely with farmers, field teams, and sustainability partners to promote responsible farming practices, enhance crop productivity, and ensure long-term environmental and social impact.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sustainable Agriculture Implementation
- Develop and implement sustainable agronomy practices aligned with company sustainability goals (soil health, water conservation, biodiversity, carbon reduction).
- Conduct field trials and demonstrations on sustainable cultivation techniques, integrated pest management (IPM), and nutrient management.
- Promote adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), regenerative agriculture, and climate-resilient farming models.
2. Farmer Engagement & Capacity Building
- Conduct training and awareness sessions for farmers and field staff on sustainable crop production.
- Build strong relationships with farmer groups, cooperatives, and local institutions to drive adoption of sustainability initiatives.
- Support traceability and data collection initiatives at the farm level.
3. Data Management & Reporting
- Monitor and document field-level sustainability metrics such as yield, input efficiency, soil quality, and carbon footprint.
- Prepare analytical reports and dashboards on sustainability performance.
- Contribute to sustainability audits, certifications (e.g., Rainforest Alliance, Fair Trade, SAFA), and external reporting requirements.
4. Research & Collaboration
- Work with R&D and sustainability teams to pilot innovative agricultural technologies and climate-smart interventions.
- Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and research institutions for joint sustainability projects and funding opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 3 to 4 years of experience in agricultural sustainability, field agronomy, or sustainable sourcing programs.
- Hands-on experience in field-level implementation of sustainable farming systems.
- Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, certification standards, and agronomic best practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office and basic data analytics; familiarity with GIS tools or mobile data collection platforms is an advantage.
