Position: Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Department: Operation & Maintenance

Job Purpose

To ensure reliable and efficient operation of all mechanical systems and equipment in the CBG plant through effective maintenance, monitoring, and technical support.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Operation & Maintenance

  • Operate and maintain CST, Bio Extruders, digesters, agitators, pumps, compressors, blowers, and gas storage systems.
  • Ensure smooth operation of gas cleaning, PSA, and bottling units.
  • Attend mechanical breakdowns promptly to minimize plant downtime.

2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

  • Prepare and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all rotating and static equipment.
  • Monitor performance parameters (pressure, temperature, flow, vibration) to detect abnormalities early.
  • Replace worn-out parts, seals, bearings, and couplings as required.

3. Installation & Commissioning

  • Supervise installation, alignment, and commissioning of mechanical systems, utilities, and pipelines.
  • Verify that installations conform to design specifications and safety standards.

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all mechanical and plant safety procedures during operation and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure work permit compliance and participate in safety audits and toolbox meetings.

5. Inventory & Procurement

  • Maintain an inventory of critical spares, tools, and lubricants.
  • Prepare PRs (Purchase Requisitions) and coordinate with procurement for timely material availability.

6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain maintenance records, daily activity logs, and equipment history sheets.
  • Prepare maintenance reports, failure analysis, and performance data for management review.

7. Coordination & Teamwork

  • Supervise mechanical technicians and fitters during routine and shutdown maintenance.
  • Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, and operations teams for synchronized plant performance.

8. Continuous Improvement

  • Suggest and implement process or equipment modifications to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Support energy conservation and cost-reduction initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience: years (for Sr. Engineer) in CBG / Biogas / Chemical / Process Industry

Knowledge Required:

  • Pumps, compressors, blowers, agitators, valves, and pipeline systems
  • PSA / Gas cleaning / Utility systems (boiler, cooling tower, air compressor)
  • Maintenance planning and troubleshooting techniques

Key Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and plant equipment
  • Proficiency in SAP
  • Hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication and team coordination abilities
  • Proficiency in MS Office and maintenance documentation
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement
