We are looking for a hands on ABAP Developer with
strong debugging skills
to build and enhance ABAP based solutions that integrate with the ReleaseOwl platform and our customers SAP systems.

Role Summary

As an ABAP Developer at ReleaseOwl, you will design, develop and maintain ABAP components that support transport management, governance, analytics and integrations for our product. You will work closely with the ABAP Architect, product team and solution engineers to turn requirements into clean, efficient and testable ABAP code.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem solving in complex SAP landscapes,
debugging tricky issues end to end
, and wants to work in a product based environment rather than pure implementation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Development and Implementation

• Develop ABAP objects such as classes, function modules, reports, enhancements and background jobs as per design.
• Implement and enhance OData services and APIs used by the ReleaseOwl platform.
• Work with transport related functions such as STMS, CTS projects and optionally gCTS based scenarios.
• Build reusable utilities and frameworks for logging, error handling and audit trails.

Debugging, Support and Performance

• Use the ABAP Debugger and related tools to
  identify root causes
  of functional, performance and integration issues across systems.
• Analyze dumps, logs and traces and provide clear, well documented fixes.
• Perform unit testing and support automated testing using ATC and related tools.
• Analyze and optimize performance issues related to database access, buffer usage and parallel processing.
• Fix defects and support production issues in coordination with the product and support teams.

Collaboration and Documentation

• Work closely with the ABAP Architect to understand technical designs and contribute implementation level suggestions.
• Collaborate with UI, integration and platform teams to deliver end to end features.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as program specs, interface descriptions and configuration notes.
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing sessions within the team, especially around debugging approaches and lessons learned.

Required Skills and Experience

• 4 plus years of hands on experience in SAP ABAP development.
• Strong knowledge of
• Object oriented ABAP
• Classic ABAP development (reports, ALV, function modules, BAPIs, IDocs)
• Enhancement techniques such as BAdIs, enhancement spots and user exits
• Experience in at least one of the following
• OData service development
• CDS views and modern ABAP syntax
• Strong debugging skills
  using the ABAP Debugger and tools like ST22, ST05, SAT or ST12.
• Good understanding of transport management and working with STMS in project environments.
• Ability to understand functional requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Good communication skills and willingness to work in an agile, product oriented environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with gCTS or Git based workflows for ABAP.
• Exposure to S4HANA specific development and modern ABAP features.
• Experience with SAP BTP ABAP Environment or cloud ready ABAP.
• Experience in DevOps or CI or CD concepts in the SAP context.
• Prior experience in a product company or reusable add on development.

Education

• Bachelor or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
