Role Summary
The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for improving efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety across linehaul and fleet operations. The role will focus on vehicle utilization, route optimization, maintenance planning, and operational excellence through industrial engineering practices, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct time and motion studies, process mapping, and workflow analysis of hub and Transshipment, linehaul and vehicle operations.
- Design and implement efficient processes for loading/unloading, trip planning, route scheduling, vehicle turnaround, optimal space utilization, storage, and material flow Load Flow & Hub floor Designing
- Analyze fleet utilization, mileage, load factor, and trip economics, reduce Damage and Claim Ratio to improve cost per km/ton.
- Evaluate material handling equipment, automation, and technology solutions for efficiency improvements.
- Develop productivity standards for drivers, fleet deployment, and operational manpower.
- Optimize routing, hub-to-hub connections, and backhauls to reduce empty runs and fuel consumption.
- Monitor and improve KPIs: on-time departures/arrivals, fuel efficiency, load factor, cost per trip, and vehicle downtime.
- Partner with maintenance teams to plan preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for minimizing breakdowns.
- Recommend automation solutions (GPS, IoT, telematics, TMS) for real-time vehicle monitoring and performance tracking.
- Support cost-reduction initiatives through fleet optimization, better vendor/driver productivity, and trip consolidation.
- Develop and standardize SOPs for linehaul operations, vehicle dispatch, safety checks, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with RTO, transport laws, driver safety regulations, and company standards.
- Collaborate with IT, operations, and fleet teams for system integration and process improvements.
- Support expansion through network design, vehicle capacity planning, and vendor/fleet partner evaluations.
- Provide structured training to staff based on SOPs, ensuring process adherence and contributing to reduced employee turnover
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelora's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical/Automobile Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 3 to 8 years of experience in industrial engineering within surface transportation, fleet management, or logistics.
- Strong knowledge of fleet operations, linehaul, vehicle maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
- Exposure to Transport Management Systems (TMS), telematics, GPS tracking, and automation solutions.
- Proficiency in data analysis (Excel, Power BI, SQL preferred).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
