Key Responsibilities:

  • Design container structures (e.g., export containers, storage containers, waste containers, POL tank containers, etc.) in line with JML product standards and customer requirements
  • Develop 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and design documentation
  • Ensure all designs comply with ISO standards, weight/load limits, and fabrication feasibility
  • Collaborate with fabrication, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure manufacturability and cost optimization
  • Support product customization based on specific tenders or customer specs
  • Provide technical inputs during bidding/tender processes when container-based solutions are involved
  • Assist in prototyping, testing, and validation of new container designs
  • Maintain version control and design data in PLM / engineering systems
  • Conduct tolerance analysis, material selection, and strength checks
  • Address design changes, NCRs, and feedback from production or customer

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 25 years experience in mechanical design, preferably related to containers, tippers, trailers, or vehicle body structures
  • Proficient in CAD software: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA
  • Familiar with welding standards, fabrication practices, and structural steel design
  • Understanding of ISO 1496 / CSC regulations (for export containers) is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and BOMs
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Exposure to finite element analysis (FEA) tools will be an advantage
