Simulation Engineer

Role & responsibilities
Conduct simulations of sheet metal forming and bulk metal forming processes using tools like Simufact, Abaqus, or Qform.
Understand and apply 2D and 3D meshing to accurately model metal forming processes.
Perform mesh convergence studies and ensure optimal mesh quality to ensure simulation accuracy.
Define and evaluate contact conditions and appropriate time steps for accurate simulations.
Analyze the effects of temperature and strain rate dependent flow stress models in metal forming process simulations.
Modify material properties in simulations based on experimental results to validate and refine predictions.
Perform metal forming simulations at elevated temperatures, including warm forming and hot forging processes.
Evaluate failure criteria in bulk metal forming processes to predict potential material failure modes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the understanding of forming processes and improve simulation models.
Preferred candidate profile
M. Tech or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience with sheet metal forming and bulk metal forming simulations using tools such as Simufact, Abaqus, or Qform.
Strong understanding of 2D and 3D elements, mesh convergence, contact definition, and timestep management in simulations.
Solid knowledge of the effect of temperature and strain rate on material properties during forming processes.
Experience with modifying material properties in simulations to align with experimental data and validate results.
Hands-on exposure to forming experiments and data acquisition systems.
Familiarity with metal forming processes at elevated temperatures, including warm forming and hot forging.
Understanding of failure criteria and material behavior under bulk metal forming conditions.
