Key Responsibilities:Architecture & Strategy

candidates with expert-level Ceph debugging and troubleshooting experience, particularly those who have worked on resolving complex Ceph issues?

  • Lead the architecture and design of scalable Ceph storage solutions for enterprise workloads.
  • Define best practices for capacity planning, data protection, and performance optimization.
  • Develop high-availability, multi-site Ceph cluster architectures supporting hybrid and private cloud environments.
  • Evaluate emerging storage technologies and provide recommendations for adoption and integration.

Implementation & Integration

  • Oversee installation, configuration, and deployment of Ceph clusters for object, block, and file storage.
  • Integrate Ceph with virtualization (OpenStack, Proxmox, VMware) and container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • Design and implement S3-compatible object storage solutions using Ceph RGW.

Automation & DevOps Enablement

  • Architect and implement automation workflows using Ansible, Python, or Bash for Ceph lifecycle management.
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions and integrate Ceph provisioning with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Build monitoring and alerting dashboards using Prometheus, Grafana, and Ceph Dashboard.

Optimization & Operations

  • Lead performance analysis, tuning, and capacity scaling for production clusters.
  • Ensure data durability, replication, and disaster recovery processes are robust and automated.
  • Define and enforce change management, patching, and upgrade processes for Ceph clusters.

Security, Compliance & Governance

  • Implement and audit cluster security, including encryption, authentication (CephX), and role-based access control.
  • Ensure all storage systems meet enterprise compliance, data protection, and regulatory standards.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor and guide junior Ceph and storage engineers.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, cloud, and application teams to align storage solutions with business needs.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for complex Ceph-related issues.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and create comprehensive documentation for internal teams.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8–12 years of experience in storage technologies, with 5+ years of hands-on Ceph expertise.
  • Deep knowledge of Ceph internals — MONs, OSDs, MDS, RGW, CRUSH maps, and RADOS.
  • Proven experience in multi-cluster Ceph deployments, Ceph upgrades, and cross-site replication (rbd-mirror, multisite RGW).
  • Strong Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) system administration skills.
  • Proficiency in Python, Bash, or Ansible scripting for automation.
  • Hands-on experience with Rook-Ceph, CSI drivers, and Kubernetes integration.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols and performance tuning (iSCSI, NFS, RDMA, VLANs).
  • Experience integrating Ceph with AWS S3, Azure Blob, or GCP storage for hybrid cloud scenarios.
  • Solid understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and capacity management strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading enterprise Ceph storage modernization or migration initiatives.
  • Knowledge of OpenStack Cinder/Swift, GlusterFS, or MinIO.
  • Exposure to cloud-native storage orchestration (Rook, Helm charts).
  • Certifications in Red Hat Ceph Storage, Kubernetes, or Linux Administration are a plus.
